摘要： The present invention provides a safety plug that can only be moved from a non-functional in which it cannot be fully inserted into a cooperating socket to a functional state in which it can be fully inserted into a cooperating socket state by the use of a child safety mechanism. In embodiments of the invention when the safety plug is in the non-functional state one or more pins of the plug are misaligned with the cooperating socket and in the functional state said one or more pins are aligned with the cooperating socket, such that operating the child safety mechanism moves the one or more pins from the misaligned position to the aligned position. In embodiments of the invention the plug is provided with a retractable member located in or on the body of the plug; wherein the retractable member is movable to and from a second position in which it is positioned within or on the body of the plug to and from a first position in which it extends from a first side of the body thereby blocking the plug from being fully inserted into a cooperating socket. The present invention also provides a safety plug that can be moved from a non-functional state to a functional state by use of a child safety mechanism wherein the plug is biased by biasing means to be in the non-functional state when the child safety mechanism is not being operated and/or when the plug is not fully inserted into a cooperating socket.
