    • A single-phase electromagnetic actuator with a torque caused by a constant current over a major part of the working stroke, and a magnetic righting torque about an inoperative position that is stable in the absence of a current. The actuator comprises a stationary device (1) consisting of stator circuit energised by at least one electric coil, and a rotatably movable device (2) comprising a thin magnet with 2N pairs of magnetic poles magnetised in alternate directions. The actuator further comprises righting means for returning the movable device (2) to a predetermined inoperative angular position, said righting means being magnetic or magnetostatic means consisting of a thin auxiliary righting magnet (34) arranged in the air gap, provided with 2N pairs of magnetic poles magnetised in alternate directions, and secured to the stator poles.

    • An electric motor, for instance of limited angle type for driving a servo-actuator, has two or more motor units each including a wound stator within each of which is a respective rotor carrying spaced permanent magnets, the rotors being carried on a common shaft. Each stator has a number of slots in which the stator windings are recessed and adjacent stators are angularly offset with respect to their rotor poles by an angle equal to the slot pitch divided by the number of motor units. The cogging or superimposed varying torques of each motor which occur as the magnets pass a stator slot are thus out of phase and substantially cancel out.

    • A rotary electromagnetic actuator comprises a rotatable shaft carrying a rotor which is rotatable relative to a stator. A magnetic circuit is set up which comprises the stator and the rotor, the reluctance of the magnetic circuit being dependent on the relative rotational orientation of the rotor and stator and decreasing in a particular direction of rotation such that the reluctance is a minimum at an equilibrium position to which the rotor is therefore biased. The rotor is selectively impelled to advance away from the equilibrium position, subsequently again becoming part of a magnetic circuit, the reluctance of which decreases in the direction of rotation to a minimum at an equilibrium position to which the rotor becomes biased. The actuator provides unidirectional rotation for successive actuations at substantially uniform torque and is suitable for use in actuating rotary devices such as rotary valves.

    • The aim of the invention is to obtain an electrical governor, preferably for controlling the combustion air in an internal combustion engine, which is simple and compact. At the same time, fluid leakages are to be reduced. To this end, the armature (31) of the control motor also functions as a fluid-carrying throttle element. The stator (11) and windings (12) of the control motor are cast into a plastic housing (2) and sealed from the interior (10) of the governor (1). The gap between the armature (31) and a control opening (28) on the channel (25) can be adjusted by means of a threaded pin (35).
