    • A multilayer insulating wire having two or more extrusion covering insulating layers formed on a conductor directly or through a layer, or formed outside a conductor or a multi-conductor wire constituted by bundling a plurality of insulated conductors. At least one of the insulating layers is formed of an intimate mixture of 100 parts by weight of a polyether sulfone resin and 10 to 100 parts by weight of an inorganic filler. A transformer produced by using such multilayer insulated wires are also disclosed. The transformer has a heat resistance of at least the F-grade (155 DEG C) conforming to the IEC 950 Standards, and excellent electric characteristics even at high frequencies. The transformer does not lose the electric characteristics even at high frequencies, and is not affected by heat.

    • An electric cable (11) comprises a copper conductor (10) surrounded by insulating layers (14 and 15) and an outer sheath (16). One of the insulating layers (14 or 15) incorporates a chemical blowing agent which evolves a gas or gases at elevated temperatures. One or more of the layers (14, 15 and 16) is of a material that supports combustion. In the event of a fire, the chemical blowing agent is activated to give off gases which cause the cable to swell to form a bulge (7). The bulge (7) provides a physical barrier to flame spread and heat propagation along the cable.
