摘要： A low frequency square wave electronic ballast used for gas discharge drive includes a high power factor pre-regulator (Unit - 1) connected to a sinusoidal AC power supply and a power controlled DC current source (Unit - 2) connected to the pre-regulator (Unit - 1). A low frequency square wave DC - to - AC inverter (Unit - 4) is connected to the inverter (PU - 3). A monitor circuit (Unit - 6) as well as a low power stabilized logic supply voltage source (Unit - 5) are also employed. The entire circuit is connected to a gas discharge device (HID lamp) such that the instantaneous power of this device is constant and controlled providing an acoustic resonance free operation and an ideal ballast curve.

The timer (23) responds to the control signal by producing a fixed duration operation signal which is applied to a switching system within the power coupling to the fluorescent lamp array (16, 17). A pair of alternative power coupling networks are utilized to alternatively operate the fluorescent lamps at either of two different voltages in response to the control circuit and switching system (15). 摘要： A series of arc lamps (6-8) each has an inductor connected in series with its anode which is field coupled to a similar inductor (16) connected to its cathode, the inductors being connected in series with each other through the inductors between an arc lamp power supply and a high current modulator for illuminating the arc lamps, once ignited. Ignition takes place serially from a single source of high voltage (25) through respective charging networks, the charge time of each network being different from the others so as to successively create arcs in the arc lamps in sequence. The high voltage used for initial ignition of the arc lamps is differentially balanced to ground by means of the coils (17, 16) in series with the cathode and anode respectively of each arc lamp. The coils are poled so that the build-up of field in each coupled pair oppose each other, thereby rendering the coils invisible to the high current modulation during illumination of the arc lamps.

When power is initially applied to the circuit, the lamps are powered at full power to enable them to "strike". After a short period, the power is reduced to the lamp. A control circuit (300) thereafter senses if the switch has been "toggled". If toggled, the power to the lamps is increased, and the lamps brighten. The circuit uses a conventional two-position switch and conventional wiring and avoids the need for additional switches and additional wiring.

摘要： A relay switch (SW) in an AC main line has a DC-powered amplifier (AMP) for applying amplifier control sensor signals to the control circuit of the relay switch. To provide DC power for the amplifier when the relay switch main controlled current conduction path is conductive, a current transformer primary winding (W1) is arranged in series with that path, and the voltage appearing across the secondary winding (W2) is rectified. To provide DC power for the amplifier when the relay switch main controlled current conduction path is non-conductive, an open-circuit voltage related to that appearing across the open-circuit non-conductive path is rectified. To permit the use of one rectifier (CR1) for developing DC power for the amplifier it is advantageous to apply the open-circuit voltage to the secondary winding of the current transformer through a DC-blocking capacitor (C2) with sufficient AC impedance to restrict AC flow across the open-circuit relay switch path.
