Um eine sichere Funktion der Waffe zu gewährleisten, weist die Waffe einen schwenkbaren Kontakthebel (45) auf, dessen Schwenkbewegung mit der Bewegung des Verschlusses (7) gekoppelt ist, und der in elektrischem Kontakt einerseits mit dem Zündstift (47) und andererseits mit der elektrischen Schaltung steht. Der Kontakthebel (45) ist derart ausgestaltet, daß er den elektrischen Kontakt zwischen der elektrischen Schaltung und dem Zündstift (47) bei geöffnetem Verschluß (7) unterbricht.

    • A method for assembling a firearm having a frame which houses a security apparatus for enabling generation of a firing signal by a firing apparatus to discharge a non-percussively fired ammunition cartidge along a firing axis. The method includes forming the frame to include a generally longitudinal section in alignment wiht the firing axis. A downwardly extending section is formed integral with the longitudinal section and has front handgrip section as well as a magazine chamber for accommodating a selective insertable ammunition magazine. A backstrap module is mated to the front handgrip section to form a firearm handgrip. An electronic firing probe assembly is secured within a slide assembly which is affixed to a top portion of th longitudinal section, said firing probe assembly being concentrically aligned about said firing axis. A battery is inserted into the ammunition magazine which is subsequently nested within said ammunition chamber, placing the battery in electrical communication with the backstrap module, the security apparatus, the firing apparatus and the firing probe assembly.

    • An electrical immobilization device with interchangeable cartridge modules. By changing modules, the device can be configured for launching a singl electrode pair projectile having different distance characteristics. The appearance of the device can also be altered with a module change. Appearance may include a horizontally oriented gun style and a vertically oriented non-lethal style. A module with two contacts spaced apart can be added to immobilize a target located immediately adjacent. The module includes a dual laser sight to provide an accurate indication of the likely impact points for the remotely launched projectiles on a remote target. The device contains an ejection sleeve. Actuation of this ejection slide dispenses the fired cartridge to facilitate installation of the next cartridge for firing. The handle contains a removable, chargeable battery pack. The handle also contains a trigger and safety switch.
