    • A valve (10) is described for use in oil injection of an oil mist (8) for lubricating/flushing cylinders in large engines and arranged with mounting means (14) for fastening in a cylinder wall (2) with a valve stem (12, 13) extending through the cylinder wall and with a nozzle outlet (6) at the inner end of the valve stem. A valve is made, the spray direction of which may be adjusted after mounting. Therefore, the valve is peculiar in that the nozzle outlet (6) is disposed in the inner valve stem part (13) which is rotatable relative to an outer valve stem part (12). The outer valve stem part (12) is fastened to or made as an integral part of the mounting means (14).

    • For the lubrication of the cylinders in marine diesel engines, it is normal practice to supply doses of oil through non-return valves in a ring area of the cylinder in immediate connection with the passage of a piston ring. It is aimed at providing a more-or-less uniform distribution of the oil along the circumference of the cylinder. However, a considerable variation is ascertained in the wear along this area. With the invention, use is made of a high-pressure injection through atomisation nozzles, so that an outspread oil mist if formed opposite the individual nozzles, which upon being influenced by the rotating scavenging air in the cylinder is made to impinge against the wall by centrifugal force, and herewith to form a substantially continuous film of oil in a ring area immediately before the passage of the piston ring. There is hereby achieved a good utilisation of the lubricating oil, i.e. a saving in oil, an a reduced and more uniform wear on the cylinder surface, to which can be added that the oil-dosing times become less critical than with conventional lubrication.

    • Problem to be resolved: The most commonly used method of lubricating two-stroke internal combustion engines is to mix the lubricating fluid into the fuel. This results in the two-stroke engine producing a much higher level of emissions and being ecologically unfriendly. The existing methods of separate lubrication of two-stroke engines are not very effective; the lubricating fluid often returns into the fuel, even in cases when the fuel mixture or air are released through the piston by a relief valve and relief channel from the suction chamber below the piston into the combustion chamber above the piston. Solution to the problem according to the invention: A two-stroke internal combustion engine (19) with separate lubricating fluid (13) circuit with reservoir (15) for lubricating the piston (2) separately from the fuel mixture (20) or air, including a fixed cylinder (2) assembly with a fixed floating cylinder (2), with a combustion chamber above the piston (2) and suction chamber below the piston (2).
