    • The present invention relates to an applicator apparatus (10) for a film-transfer coater. The applicator apparatus (10) includes an applicator chamber (2) bordered by an area (B) on the surface of said rotating applicator roll (1) and by an applicator apparatus (10) comprising a doctor (4, 12) adapted to extend in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the roll essentially over the width of the roll (1). The applicator apparatus further includes means (6) for feeding the web treatment material into applicator chamber (2) and means (7) for feeding steam into the gap between the applicator roll (1) and the dam member (3, 15) for lubricating the dam member (3, 15).
