摘要： Apparatus and methods for controlled application of aeromechanical and electrodynamic release and separation forces for foreign particulate matter in fiber materials. A number of elements are employed in various combinations. One important element is a perforated, pinned cylinder (14) which facilitates foreign particulate matter removal and microdust classification and use of conditioned and controlled airflow for optimum fiber processing and foreign matter removal. Another important element is a counterflow slot (f). Other important aspects are air blast cleaning of a tenuous mat held onto a perforated cylinder (72); unidirectional and pulsating airflows to cause repeated engagement of fibers with static cleaning pins (88) and to release additional dust; application of electrostatic release forces to particles bound onto the fiber; and the processing of fiber in properly conditioned inlet (36) air to the machine, as opposed to ambient air. These methods and apparatus enable the design of precise and accurate measurement apparatus for foreign matter in fiber samples. They further provide effective cleaning, blending, and preprocessing of textile fibers for improved measurements of fiber properties. Still further, the invention may be applied to improved fiber cleaning equipment in gins or in textile mills. The invention ultimately permits a simplified spinning apparatus whose input is tufts and whose output is spun yarn.

摘要： Light industry, processes and facilities for removing plant fragments from wool are concerned. With the proposed invention, it is possible more efficiently to remove plant fragments from wool without damaging the quality of the fibres, improve environmental conditions in industrial premises and reduce the time required for the cleaning process. The fibres are cooled in the intake bin of a thermally insulated chamber to between -173 and -118 DEG C at a rate not exceeding 15 DEG C per minute. With the aid of a wool feed device and a conveyer, the wool is fed into a crushing device and then into a heating and discharge hopper. The conveyer and crushing device are housed in the thermally insulated chamber with the intake and discharge hoppers. Frozen burs and other plant fragments become brittle and are easily crushed in the crushing device. The degree of adhesion between the plant fragments and fibre is reduced and the fragments can easily be removed in the scutching machine.

摘要： A process for treatment of animal hair fibres which includes a first step of providing a plurality of discrete masses of animal hair fibres optionally in their original alignment and form followed by a second step wherein the plurality of masses are scoured separately from each other in a scouring medium. Suitably the scouring step includes an initial fibre tip treatment followed by a further treatment in which the fibres are fully immersed in the scouring medium which suitably is an organic solvent. The scouring can also be carried out in a batch process wherein each mass of animal hair fibres are placed in separate permeable containers which are subsequently dipped in the scouring medium. Alternatively a continuous process may be adopted in which the masses of animal hair fibres are placed separately in spaced relationship on a conveyor belt which is subsequently passed through the scouring medium. Suitably the plurality of masses of animal hair are combined in an aggregate prior to carding.
