摘要： A method of controlling the pH of a carbon dioxide sequestration stream to be released into a body of water is disclosed. The method comprises combining a gas loaded with carbon dioxide with a first brine stream and carbonate to produce a reaction stream. The method further comprises controlling the pH of the reaction stream by reacting the reaction stream with an hydroxide-rich stream that is produced by electrolysis of a brine. The reaction is controlled to produce the sequestration stream having the predetermined pH by controlling a supply rate of the reaction stream and/or by controlling a supply rate of the hydroxide rich stream.

摘要： An assembly of electrodialysis cells for producing lithium hydroxide from a lithium-bearing solution is disclosed. The assembly includes a plurality of alternately arranged anodic and cathodic compartments separated by respective cation exchange membranes that allow migration of lithium cations therethrough from the anodic compartments to the cathodic compartments. Each anodic compartment comprises an anode and a first fluid distribution member having an inlet to receive a feedstream of a lithium-bearing solution into the anodic compartment and an outlet to remove a lithium-depleted solution therefrom. Each cathodic compartment comprises a cathode and a second fluid distribution member having an inlet to receive a lithium hydroxide solution into the cathodic compartment and an outlet to remove a lithium-enriched hydroxide solution therefrom. The first and second fluid distribution members are interposed between the cation exchange membrane and said respective anode and cathode, wherein said fluid distribution members comprise a frame configured to support one or more permeable spacer sheets in close proximity to the cation exchange membrane. A pair of opposing end plates sandwich the plurality of alternately arranged anodic and cathodic compartments together.

Dies wird dadurch erreicht, dass in einem Chlorierungsschritt (A) eine Lithiumchloridlösung (2) hergestellt wird, wobei die lithiumhaltigen Erze und/oder Minerale und/oder Erden (1) zunächst unter Verwendung von Chlorgas (5) chloriert und anschließend, insbesondere unter Verwendungvon Wasser, ausgelaugt werden, wobei in einem nachfolgenden Reinigungsschritt (B) dann eine hochreine Lithiumchloridlösung (3) erzeugt wird, wobei die Lithiumchloridlösung (2), insbesondere durch Entfernen von Kationen, wie Natrium, Kalium, Calcium, Magnesium und/oder Eisen, aus der Lithiumchloridlösung (2) gereinigt wird, und wobei in einem nachfolgenden Elektrolyseschritt (C) dann Lithiumhydroxid (4), insbesondere hochreines Lithiumhydroxid, hergestellt wird, wobei die hochreine Lithiumchloridlösung (3) einer Chlorgas (5) und Wasserstoff als Nebenprodukte erzeugenden Membranelektrolyse unterzogen wird.
