摘要： Methodology for formulating sodium bicarbonate and potassium sulfate. In one embodiment, sodium sulfate and ammonium bicarbonate are reacted to form sodium bicarbonate with the remaining liquor or brine treated with sulfuric acid to remove carbonates with subsequent precipitation of potassium sulfate. A further embodiment employs ammonium bicarbonate, ammonia gas or carbon dioxide to precipitate sodium bicarbonate. The result of the methods is the production of high quality fertilizer and food grade sodium bicarbonate.

摘要： A process for the co-production of gaseous HCI and a salt product comprising a cation and an anion, which process comprises the steps of a. providing an aqueous solution comprising protons, chloride anions, and cations and anions of the salt product, b. bringing the solution into contact with a substantially immiscible extractant, the extractant comprising: 1) an oil soluble amine, which amine is substantially water insoluble both in free and in salt form; and 2) a carrier solvent for the amine; whereupon HCI selectively transfers to the extractant to form an HCI- carrying extractant and a chloride depleted aqueous solution containing the salt product; c. separating the HCI-carrying extractant from the chloride-depleted aqueous solution; and d. distilling HCI from the separated HCI-carrying extractant to form gaseous HCI and HCI depleted extractant.

摘要： A process for synthesizing ammonium sulfate and United States Pharmacopoeia grade sodium bicarbonate. The process allows an energy efficient conversion of precursor sodium sulfate and bicarbonate to ammonium sulfate high grade fertilizer and the pharmaceutical grade sodium bicarbonate by saturation of process brine with sodium sulfate. This step was previously unrecognized in the art, which resulted in prior art methods being ineffectual from engineering, energy and product quality points of view. The present process reintroduces sodium sulfate into the process brine or solution to perpetuate the conversion process in the absence of separation problems and energy expenditures inherent in the prior art techniques.
