    • An apparatus for sealing prepared medications in enclosures includes a tubular sleeve having an open first end, an open second end, and an outer surface. The first end includes at least one first locking member for securely attaching the tubular sleeve to another member. The apparatus also includes a length of a flexible packaging sleeve that is open at one end and has an open interior space. The packaging sleeve is disposed about the outer surface of the tubular sleeve in a compressed form. The open end of the sleeve is sealingly attached to the first end of the tubular sleeve. A tensioner device is disposed about an outer surface of the packaging sleeve and includes a first section that couples the first end of the packaging sleeve to the tubular sleeve and at least two elongated tensioner arms that extend along a length of the tubular sleeve. The compressed packaging sleeve is disposed underneath the tensioner arms such that the tensioner arms apply tension to the packaging sleeve and control the unfurling thereof from the tubular sleeve. The open first end of the tubular sleeve is in communication with the open interior space of the packaging sleeve.

    • String of packing cushions (73) formed by two superposed layers of flexible plastic film sealed together along transversely extending lines to form a series of closed chambers, loose fill packing material (69) in the chambers (74), and perforations (75) in the film between the chambers defining tear lines by which the cushions can be separated. In certain disclosed embodiments, the string of cushions is made by positioning an elongated length of flexible plastic tubing (24) about a chute (22, 23), drawing a section of the tubing from the chute (33), introducing loose fill packing material through the chute into the section of the tubing which has been drawn from the chute, sealing the walls of the tubing together along transversely extending seal lines above the loose fill packing material to close the section and form a cushion (49, 51), perforating the tubing along a transversely extending tear line above the cushion (61), and repeating the process to form succesive cushions separated by tear lines.

    • Waste disposal device including a container (12) with a waste storage chamber (12a) and a cartridge (24) therein with contains a length of flexible tubing (34) for encapsulating waste packages (74). A retention mechanism (72) holds the waste package. A rotation mechanism causes relative rotation between the cartridge and the retention mechanism to form a twist above the waste package, thereby encapsulating the waste package in the tubing. Encapsulation of the waste package prevents the release of odors and provides a convenient and sanitary disposal of the waste. A series of encapsulated waste packages is created in the container, each package contained within a portion of tubing and sealed at each end by the twisting process. Once encapsulated, the waste package is urged further into the container upon subsequent insertion of another waste package or by a compacting mechanism (248) which rolls the encapsulated waste packages into a compacted roll.
