    • A method of destructing a toxic chemical, comprising the steps of mixing said toxic chemical with a liquid phase formed by an aqueous mixture of water and an ionic liquid or molten salt which is miscible with water, said ionic liquid or molten salt comprising a tertiary a mine group or quaternary ammonium group; and contacting said toxic chemical in said liquid phase with said ionic liquid or molten salt so as to decompose said toxic chemical. The ionic liquid or molten salt comprises a tertiary a mine group or quaternary ammonium group. The dispersion or solution further contains at least one oxidizing agent and a donor of hydrogen bonds. Decontamination of contaminated surfaces and decomposition of toxic substances are achieved by using environmentally friendly, non- toxic solvents and reactants which yields reaction products which are substantially non- harmful or even non-toxic.

    • Catalytically treating groundwater (10), surface water, or above surface water, contaminated (12) with halogenated organic compounds being members of chlorotriazine, chloroacetanilide, or halogenated aliphatic, herbicide groups, and, halogen containing analogs and derivatives thereof. Method: exposing contaminated water to catalytic amount of electron transfer mediator (18) under reducing conditions, to decrease concentrations of halogenated organic compounds. System: at least one electron transfer mediator (18) contained in at least one (in-situ or/and ex-situ) unit (20), for exposing to contaminated water under reducing conditions. Exemplary electron transfer mediators are porphyrinogenic organometallic complexes, being metalloporphyrins, metallocorrins, or metallochlorins. Exemplary metalloporphyrins are a [TMPyP], [TP(OH)P], [TPP], or [TBSP], free base porphyrin complexed to a transition metal (cobalt, nickel, iron, zinc, or copper). Implemented according to homogeneous or/and heterogeneous catalysis, via batch or flow mode. Reducing conditions naturally exist, or/and are anthropogenically produced, in the contaminated water. Applicable to in-situ groundwater permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) (22).

    • This invention relates to the technology of ecotoxicants treatment, mainly chemical weapons (toxin agents), pesticides, hydrolysis products of toxin agents and pesticides. The method provides destruction of toxin agents, pesticides or their hydrolysates with further biodegradation of received products and can used for a wide range of ecotoxicants. The method can also be applied for cleaning of soils and objects contaminated with toxin agents and pesticides. In the claimed embodiments of the method, an amino acid reagent is used as a reagent for chemical neutralization of toxin agents, pesticides or their hydrolysates. Neutralization of ecotoxicants toxicity is carried out by application of a reagent containing an amino acid or a mixture of amino acids or peptides or derivatives of amino acids and peptides or their mixture in aqueous or aqueous organic medium. As the reagent hydrolysis products of protein containing factory waste can also be applied.
