摘要： Disclosed herein are apparatus embodiments and methods for using same that facilitate occlusion of a lumen in a subject. In a particular example, the apparatus is configured for occluding a portion of the lower GI tract (e.g. colon). Further, the apparatus is configured for placement in the lumen and insufflation to secure within the lumen such that the apparatus remains in place without the need for uncomfortable conduits or tools extending out of the patient. In a particular method embodiment, the apparatus is useful for occluding a lumen following a surgical procedure such as an anastomosis.

摘要： A stent delivery system is provided which incorporates a polyurethane balloon which exhibits a high coefficient of friction with respect to metallic substrates. Through the process of stent expansion, the delivery system creates a differential in the rate of axial growth of metallic stents. The differential in growth causes a center portion of the stent to experience greater axial expansion than respective end portions. The stent has the lower axial expansion of the end portions results in a stent having end portions of comparatively higher radial stiffness than the corresponding center portion of the stent.

摘要： A balloon catheter and stent delivery system for medical treatment of a patient includes a balloon having a pattern of ridges in an initial deflated state. The ridges may cooperate with structural elements of a stent crimped onto the balloon, to increase and enhance longitudinal retention of the stent while the catheter system is advanced or withdrawn. Upon inflation, the balloon recovers to an inflated shape having a cylindrical working portion. The balloon catheter thus provides for uniform expansion of the stent when the balloon is inflated. The present invention also tends to protect the leading or distal end of the stent during advancement, and tends to protect the proximal end of the stent during any withdrawal of the catheter system.

摘要： An improved catheter assembly is provided for advancing a pair of guide wires to a bifurcated vessel in preparation for an interventional procedure. The delivery assembly of the present invention has the novel feature of containing two guide wire lumens in a single cathether to prevent wire wrapping and crossing of the wires. The tracking guide wire lumen and the integrated guide wire lumen run substantially parallel to each other throughout their lengths, and the tracking guide wire lumen and the integrated guide wire lumen do not move apart with respect to each other as the catheter is manipulated. The invention provides for a clip for clipping the wires at their proximal ends outside of the patient, thus helping to prevent wire wrapping, wire crossing, and confusion between wires. The assembly allows for the delivery of two wires to a bifurcation so that the bifurcation is ready for an interventional procedure, such as the implantation of a bifurcated stent.

摘要： The invention is directed to a system for removably securing a stent which generally includes an expandable member of a catheter assembly, the expandable member having outwardly extending protrusions. An expandable stent is crimped onto the expandable member such that the protrusions extend into the gaps in the stent. The stent is secured in place on the expandable member while advancing the system through tortuous body lumen passages. The stent is implanted at the desired location in the body lumen by inflating the expandable member and thereby expanding the stent into the body lumen. The protrusions are pulled away from and out of the stent gaps by deflating the expandable member and retracting the remainder of the system.
