摘要： A collapsible cigar corer tool assembly is disclosed having a body (10) and a collapsible cigar corer (12) including at least one cutting aperture (14) with a fixed, circumferential, cutting blade (20). The cap of a cigar is prepared for coring an opening by urging the cap against the cutting blade and by rotating the cigar relative to the aperture. The cigar corer is mounted on the tool assembly such that it pivots between two positions, a first closed position in which the cutting aperture is housed within the body, and a second open position in which the cutting aperture is in an operative position outside said body.

摘要： Smoking articles such as cigarettes, cigars and the like are now widely recognised as creating health hazards. However many people find it difficult to stop smoking because it has proved very difficult for a person to systematically reduce his smoking rate without abrupt transitions of which the smoker is very conscious. Smoking articles (12, 50) such as cigarettes, cigars and the like are treated to alter the composition of the smoke constituents received by the smoker by forming one or more transverse ducts (52, 54, 56, 58) through the portion (50) of the side wall of the smoking article which remains outside the smoker's mouth and extending into the smoking article a distance at least equal to the radius of the smoking article. In particular, the composition of the smoke constituents may be altered to reduce unwanted or undesirable g s and/or particulate matter by using apparatus (10) to form in a smoking article one or more such ducts. If desired, the smoking habit may be substantially reduced or broken by gradually increasing the number of such ducts to produce a corresponding reduction in nicotine or other constituent consumption in steps which are readily acceptable to the smoker.

摘要： An apparatus (10) for perforating a cigarette (34) comprises a torus-shaped body (12) having an aperture (13) therethrough and a pair of spring-loaded reciprocating pins (18, 20) disposed within respective bores (14, 16) oriented in a linearly opposing relationship along a common diameter of the aperture (13). The reciprocating pins (18, 20) are pointed at their inward ends (19, 21) and are held in retracted positions with their respective bores (14, 16) until an external pressure, applied by the user's fingers, for example, is exerted on the distal ends (53) of the reciprocating pins (18, 20), causing them to move inward toward each other and to pierce the outer covering of a cigarette (34) inserted within the aperture (13). The reciprocating pins (18, 20) may be operated together to simultaneously perforate opposite sides of the cigarette (34) which is inserted within the aperture (13) of the cigarette perforator (10).

摘要： An axially movable plunger (16) is fitted within the cylindrical cutting head (14) of a plug-type cigar cutter (10). The plunger (16) is provided with a stop mechanism which causes it to come to a rest in a position in which the plunger (16) protrudes to, and preferably partially beyond, the cutting edge (22) of the cutter head (14). In this manner, the cutting edge (22) is protected against damage and the user is protected against injury from the cutting edge (22). In order to utilize the cutter (10), the plunger (16) is drawn inwardly, behind the cutting edge, and a plug is cut from the cigar by forcing the cutting head (14) into the sealed end of the cigar. The plunger (16) is then urged forward, expelling the plug, until it comes to rest in its stopped position. The cigar cutter (10) may then be stored safely.

摘要： A combination pen and cigar cutter (10) includes a bottom barrel portion of a writing instrument (14) for receiving an ink cartridge (20) therein, and a barrel-like cigar cutter (16) threadably connected thereto having a sharpened annular top edge for cutting the end of a cigar. A cap (18) is releasably received over the cigar cutter and is rotatably moveable between a first position where the tip of the ink cartridge is in a writing mode, and a second position where the tip of the ink cartridge is retraced within the barrel of the writing instrument. The cap (18) may be removed revealing the cigar cutter, which has a plunger (32) mounted therein which is moved to a retractable position before cutting the end of a cigar and is then moved to an extended position after the cigar has been cut for ejecting the plug of tobacco from the cutter. The arrangement is such that the rotary movement of the cap and cutter in one direction simultaneously moves the ink cartridge to its writing mode and the cutter plunger to its retracted position, and rotary movement in the opposite direction simultaneously retracts the ink cartridge and extends the cutter plunger.
