    • An apparatus for shaping a slab of compressible or cellular polymer material (80), such as polyurethane foam, by cutting portions of the material from one surface. A moving patterned platform (32), preferably an endless belt or a series of interconnected panels, is interposed between a compression roller (56) and a support surface (46) and defines at least one recess (36). When the slab is compressed between the compression roller and the platform, which is supported by the support surface, a portion of the material fills the recess or recesses in the moving platform. At least a portion of the compressed material within the recesses is then cut from the surface of the slab by a blade (76) just as the slab emerges from between the compression roller and the platform leaving a profile-cut surface with cut-out portions corresponding in pattern and shape to the recesses provided on the moving patterned platform.

    • An Avocado Cutting and Splitting Device. The device uses a single cutting blade to cut through both the seed and meat of incoming avocados. To increase uptime, the device allows the cutting blade to be sharpened while in operating condition (without removing the blade from the machine). There are a series of guides, elements and other apparatus that will place the incoming avocados in a consistent orientation relative to the cutting blade before they are cut. Belt agitation fingers have further been added to cause the feed belt to vibrate during operation, in order to assist in positioning the avocados properly prior to their being cut. To improve throughput and reduce the need for human involvement, the device includes a set of custom-shaped ramps designed to guide and transport the cut avocado halves to the moving exit conveyor so that the halves land face-down on the exit conveyor.

    • A hide splitting machine (1) according to the invention has two pivot arms (20), mounted on modified journals (17) at each end of a rubber roller (9), that are connected to two ring roller swivel arms (26) attached to each end of the ring roller (6). The ring roller swivel arms connected to the pivot arms allow constant radial distance movement of the ring roller along the circumference of the rubber roller. Therefore, the ring roller can be retracted or moved away automatically, without possibility of mechanical damage, from the razor sharp band knife and ring jaw insert edge. The automatic retraction of the ring roller a preset distance allows splitting machine operators to easily access the ring jaw insert for safe, quick and efficient manual cleaning of the ring jaw insert edge. The automatic retraction of the ring roller further eliminates physical handling an/or manual removal of the ring roller from the splitting machine during the ring jaw insert edge cleaning process.
