    • An actuator (42, 44) for actuating a derailleur (36, 38) and/or a brake (32, 34) of a bicycle. The actuator (42, 44) is incorporated into a bar end (24, 26) and includes a lever (46, 48, 50, 52) slidably mounted to the bar end (24, 26) for sliding between a neutral position and an actuating position (72, 68) axially spaced from the neutral position. The transmission mechanism actuates the brake (32, 34) or derailleur (36, 38) when the lever (46, 48, 50, 52) is slid to the actuating position (72, 68).
