    • A framing system, according to the present invention, comprises a base frame (14) and multiple framing arches (10) attached to the base frame (14) at selected intervals. Each framing arch (10) comprises a pair of lumber leg segments (22, 24), a pair of lumber roof rib segments (18, 20), angle frame connectors (12) joining each leg segment (22, 24) to a roof rib segment (18, 20) and joining one roof rib segment to another roof rib segment, base frame connectors (16) joining each leg segment (22, 24) to the base frame (14), and lumber edge segments (28, 30) and a lumber ridge segment (26). The edge segments (28, 30) extend transversely of the framing arches (10) with each edge segment (28, 30) being mounted in the angle frame connectors (12) that join leg segments (22, 24) to the roof rib segments (18, 20) on one side of the framing system. The ridge segment (26) extends transversely of the framing arches and is mounted in the angle frame connectors that join one roof rib segment (18) to another roof rib segment (20).

    • A blocking anchor (20) allows connection of each end of an engineered or dimensional lumber bridge (200, 400) between first and second parallel joists (100, 300). Each blocking anchor (20) includes a saddle (22), which cradles the end of the bridge (200, 400), and a pair of fastening flanges (60, 70), which allow attachment to the side of the joist (100, 300). The saddle (22) is formed by a base (30), from which first and second legs (40, 50) extend. The saddle (22) is sized to fit over the end of dimensional lumber or engineered beams. The first and second fastening flanges (60, 70) extend from opposed sides of the base (30), perpendicular to the legs (40, 50). Fastener holes (41, 42, 61) defined in each leg (40, 50) and in the fastening flanges (60, 70) allow the use of screws, possibly nails, or other fasteners to attach the legs (40, 50) to the bridge (200, 400) and the fastening flanges (60, 70) to the joist (100, 300).

    • A mechanical joint is formed from a hollow structure (101) of material that can be shaped so that bringing opposite sides of the external walls forming the hollow structure (101), forms a socket (801). For example, by compressing together opposite external sides of a hollow structure (101), such as a tube (101), the (801) socket with a continuous double wall is formed. The socket (801) is configured to provide a snap fit with a moveable member (1001). A flexible member (901) is positioned in the socket (801) and attached to the moveable member (1001), so that the moveable member (1001) can be controlled for placement in an out of the socket (801). The flexible member (901) may also twist to permit the moveable member (1001) to be located in any position necessary to allow the moveable member (1001) to be engaged in the socket (801) or disengaged from the socket (801), reducing the need for precise component tolerances. The joint is useful in structures that have multiple configurations. For example, the joint finds application in structures such as portable game goals, where it is desirable for the structure to collapse from an erect position for game play into a collapsed configuration for transport.
