摘要： A superalloy substrate, such as a turbine blade or vane, is fabricated or repaired by laser beam welding to clad one or more layers on the substrate. Laser optical energy is transferred to the welding filler material and underlying substrate to assure filler melting and adequate substrate surface wetting for good fusion. Energy transfer is maintained below a level that jeopardizes substrate thermal degradation. Optical energy transfer to the filler and substrate is maintained uniformly as the laser beam and substrate are moved relative to each other along a translation path by varying the energy transfer rate to compensate for localized substrate topology variations.

The assembly includes a launcher device having a launcher device with a main bladder substantially surrounding the launcher device body. The assembly further includes an absorbent liner and a lateral bladder having a tubular lateral bladder body portion and a flange portion. The flange portion of the lateral bladder may be attached to the exterior of the launcher device body. The lateral bladder may include an open end, a closed end, and an opening or hole proximal the closed end. A method of using the assembly includes impregnating the liner with resinous material, inserting at least a portion of the liner into the lateral bladder, pressing the liner against the pipe, and allowing the resinous material to cure and harden.

摘要： This invention relates generally to a method for repairing a casting (10), and more specifically to a method of repairing a casting (10) by pouring melted filler material into a damaged portion of the original casting. Damaged cast metal components (10), such as a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine are repaired by preheating the component (10) to a first preheat temperature. The damaged area of the casting (10) is then heated to a higher temperature using a torch and melted filler material is poured into the casting (10). The torch is used to maintain the temperature of the melted material for thirty seconds to two minutes. The temperature of the filler material is then cooled using compressed air.

摘要： A base metal repair tape (11) includes a first layer (13) formed braze alloy bonded together with fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene, a second layer (14) formed from powdered base metal bonded together by fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene and a third layer (15) comprising a brazing alloy bonded together by fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene. This is used to repair base metal by placing the layer (15) on the base metal and brazing the base metal powder so that the brazing alloy melts and diffuses into the base metal powder bonding it to the surface of the article. This permits the braze powder to be bonded to the base metal surface with minimal distance between the base powder particles. The number of alternating layers of base metal (22) and braze alloy (23) can be increased to increase the thickness of the repair. This can also be used to form small intricate parts.

In an embodiment, the method comprises positioning at least one bushing liner within a bore of at least one bearing block; attaching an idler shaft and an idler gear together; and positioning the idler shaft within the at least one bushing liner.

A thermally conductive plate composed of copper or a copper alloy is bolted to the back-up plate and a relatively thin copper or copper alloy facing is soldered to that surface of the thermally conductive plate which faces away from the back-up plate. The thermally conductive plate may be omitted and the facing soldered to the back-up plate. The facing contacts and cools a continuously cast strand travelling through the mold. When the facing becomes cracked or worn beyond repair, the solder joint is melted to remove the facing and a fresh facing is soldered to the thermally conductive plate or back-up plate.

摘要： Apparatus for remotely placing and welding a patch over an underwater breach in the hull of a ship. The apparatus is lowered into position over the side of the ship by a winch and cable, then held against the ship's hull (1) by electromagnets (13). Wheels (11) are disposed on the frame to permit the frame to be driven along the hull and positioned over the breach.
