    • A pulley (40, 140, 240) having an axially extending annular belt engaging wall construction (42, 142, 242) including an axial wall portion (44, 144, 146, 244, 246) formed of sheet metal. The circular wall portion has an annular bend (54, 154, 254) in an intermediate annular area thereof and extends therefrom radially outwardly and axially outwardly to a hub construction (56, 156, 256).     • The fixing member is mainly intended for as an individual member, as a part of a larger element, or as an intermediate member to be clamped to a shaftlike element, such as a shaft, a trunnion, or a ring, secured against rotational as well as axial displacement. The fixing member is provided with a centre opening (14) the dimensions of which with glide fits correspond to the outer dimensions of the shaftlike element. Outside the centre opening (14) the fixing member is provided with an approximately conical main portion (10), and the portion (for example 12) of the member bordering the centre opening (14) is provided with such folds (18) that the edge face (16) of the centre opening (14) is zigzag or wave shaped. When the fixing member is axially compressed a flattening of the main portion takes place which, owing to the folds (18), brings about such a contraction of the centre opening (14) that the inner edge face (16) of the member by great force is pressed against the circumference of the shaftlike member with a contact area that, owing to the zigzag or wave shape of the said edge face (16), is relatively large. Simultaneously the circumference of the main portion (10) is expanded and, especially in case the folds (18) extend to the circumference of the fixing member, or in case the main portion (10) is provided with notches in the part thereof bordering the circumference the resulting expansion of the main portion (10) grew still more pronounced and may be utilized for securing the fixing member within a hollow space.

    • A shaft-carried speed reducer (10) is provided having an adaptable mounting arrangement. The hub (30) of the speed reducer (10) is configured having a substantially cylindrical axial bore (44). At least one annular groove (46) may be defined in the axial bore (44) to receive a snap ring (48) when desired. A removable adapter (50) having a tapered interior surface (54) may then be situated in the hub bore (44) to abut the snap ring (48). As an alternative to such a snap ring, an annular flange (64) may be provided on the removable adapter to engage an end face of the hub. A tapered sleeve member (52) engages the tapered interior surface (54) defined on the removable adapter to effect securement of the hub to the shaft. If a single adapter is used, it may be inserted from either side of the the hub in some configuration. Further, some configurations permit a pair of adapters and corresponding sleeve members bo be used. The adapter and snap ring, if any, may be romoved when the hub is to be secured to a screw conveyor drive shaft or the like.
