    • A method for building artificial reefs or breakwaters, and the resulting products, are disclosed. According to the method, old concrete poles such as those used for power lines are cut to a suitable length, any exposed iron bars are removed, and the poles are cleaned up by sandblasting or by using a jet of highly pressurised water before being assembled to form the components (3, 4, 5) of modules or interlocking heaps for building artificial reefs or breakwaters with interconnected spaces in which marine life can live or seek shelter. The modules or heaps are designed to protect certain coastlines and/or promote the survival and presence of marine life in endangered areas.

As condutas estão ligadas hidraulicamente, sendo que em cada ligação existe uma válvula de seccionamento associada a uma unidade geradora de energia útil (9). No caso em que se pretenda que que as peças importantes do dispositivo não estejam em contacto directo com a água do mar, o dispositivo comporta ainda almofadas (11), (12) e (13), construídas em fino material flexível por exemplo de borracha e que envolvem todas as entradas (5) e saídas (8) existentes nestas condutas, sendo que cada almofada está ligada simultaneamente a entradas e saídas na mesma prumada da mesma zona do dispositivo, estando o interior das condutas e das almofadas preenchido com uma quantidade fixa de fluido que assim fica totalmente isolado da água do mar.

The branching of the tines closely replicates the appearance of natural branching coral. Over time the individual artificial reef modules for coral reef remediation (100) would slowly degrade and allow the tines to break off.

    • An expandable, adaptable aquatic life enhancement device/artificial reef is assembled from variously shaped modular panels (10) quickly and easily, on location, using hand tools. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the modular panels (10) are constructed of a resinous non-toxic, non-corrodible material, and are of a size and weight which allows as few as two men to handle the modular panels.
