    • Methods, systems, and apparatus for crosstalk avoidance in a telecommunications network are disclosed. In one aspect a telecommunications device includes a transceiver and a vectoring engine coupled to the transceiver. The vectoring engine can include a vectoring processor and vectoring control entity (e.g., apparatus). The vectoring engine is configured to instruct the transceiver to transmit, over a given line pair of a given vectoring group, initialization symbols at one or more configurable locations of a Time-Division Duplex (TDD) frame. For example, the vectoring engine can instruct the transceiver to transmit the initialization symbols beginning at a first symbol time following transmission, over other line pairs of the given vectoring group, of a Robust Management Channel (RMC) symbol.

    • The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to wired communication channels, such as telephone lines in a bundled telephone cable. In some implementations, a system includes telephone lines bundled together; electronic equipment at a first location includes a first transceiver device for each of the telephone lines, where each first transceiver device at the first location is configured to coordinate transmissions over a respective telephone line coupled with the first transceiver device; and second transceiver devices coupled respectively with the telephone lines at second locations, such that each second transceiver device is respectively paired with a first transceiver device at the first location; each pair of the first and second transceiver devices is configured to force transmission on a telephone line connecting the pair when another pair of the first and second transceiver devices estimates a signal to noise ratio on the telephone line connecting the other pair.

    • There is provided mitigation of disconnect events in a vectoring based digital subscriber line, DSL, system. A method performed by a digital subscriber line access multiplexer,DSLAM, comprises detecting a loss of signal or disconnect event of a line in a vectored group of DSL lines,the loss of signal or disconnect event causing a negative impact on the DSL system. The method further comprises detecting a change in at least one downstream, DS, crosstalk coefficient of at least one line in said vectored group of DSL lines. The method further comprises determining a magnitude of said change. The method further comprises determining where the loss of signal or disconnect event has occurred by processing precoding coefficients of the vectored group of DSL lines. The method further comprises determining,on basis of the determined magnitude and where the loss of signal or disconnect event has occurred, an action to be performed by the DSLAM so as to mitigate for said negative impact.
