    • A method (100) of estimating parameters of a communication channel in a wireless communication system (300) is disclosed. The method (100) includes the steps of: (101) dividing the transmitter/receiver angular transmission/reception domains into at least two angular regions, (102) defining at least two transmitter/receiver beam patterns for transmission/reception of a communication channel, the transmitter/receiver beam patterns collectively spanning each of the angular regions of the respective angular transmission/reception domains and being at least partially overlapping in at least one angular region of the respective angular transmission/reception domains, (103) transmitting, for a predetermined period of time, the communication channel from the transmitter to the receiver; and (104, 106) upon receiving the communication channel at the receiver, estimating parameters of the communication channel including an angle-of-departure (AOD) within the angular transmission domain and an angle-of-arrival (AOA) within the angular receiving domain.
