    • A SIM card for a phone has a first memory partition on which a phone user identity and phone network access data are stored. A service usage monitoring application is stored in a memory. The service usage monitoring application (a) logs information about a service used via the phone, (b) creates a service usage record for the service activity based on the information, (c) stores the service usage record in a buffer, (d) creates a reporting message containing at least one service usage data record, (e) sends the reporting message to a remote server at a preset interval based on a triggered event, and (f) purges the at least one service usage record from the buffer upon successful transmission of the reporting message.

    • A method for offering time on a smart card which is provided for being carried in a host device which comprises at least a first time counter and a gateway for communication with a time server. The method comprises the step of running an algorithm on a processor of the smart card for performing the following steps: reserving a user-inaccessible memory location on the smart card for storing a time; sending a synchronisation time request via the gateway to the time server and, upon receipt of a reply of the time server, extracting a synchronisation time from the reply and storing the synchronisation time as a reference time on the user-inaccessible memory location; starting the first time counter of the host device for counting an elapsed time with respect to the reference time; upon receipt of a present time request, retrieving the elapsed time from the first time counter, calculating a present time on the smart card by adding the elapsed time to the reference time and outputting the present time.

    • The present invention is a method for a network billing, especially on the Internet, and a billing system that uses this method. The present billing system can bill for services and communication activity done within the premises among local devices and application without going through any exchange or outside switching devices. The main object of the present invention is that the billing is based on "reverse report", which means that the billing information is reported by the subscriber (1, 2) itself. The reporting can be done immediately or in any time predetermined by the user or system operator. The billing method, according to the present invention, is dedicated to bill subscribers (1, 2) wherein each subscriber has a connection device (3) or unit including a monitoring device (5, 6) that can report the needed information to a server, which collects the information for billing use.

    • A system and method of providing a prepaid subscriber service to a mobile subscriber in an integrated wireless telecommunications network (10) having a circuit-switched portion and a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) packet-switched portion. A prepaid subscriber class (PPSC) (40) is stored in a home location register (HLR)(16), and the PPSC is sent from the HLR to a serving mobile switching center (MSC) (11) when the subscriber registers in the circuit-switched portion of the network. The PPSC is sent from the HLR to a serving GPRS support node (SGSN)(12) when the subscriber registers in the packet-switched portion of the network. Also, the PPSC may be sent from the SGSN to a Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) (25) in order to indicate that the subscriber is a prepaid subscriber. When the mobile subscriber begins a packet-switched data session, the SGSN, GGSN, or both periodically send partial call data records (CDRs) to a prepaid center (PPC)(19). When the mobile subscriber begins a circuit-switched call, the MSC periodically sends partial CDRs to the PPC. The PPC calculates in near real time, a new account balance for the prepaid subscriber. The current call is disconnected, and prepaid services are stopped when the account balance is reduced to zero.
