摘要： In order to protect audio signals against copying, it is proposed to mix the audio signal with at least one non-audible disturbance signal. A first disturbance signal may be a low-frequency signal which is added to the audio signal, while a second disturbance signal may be a high-frequency disturbance signal which is multiplied with the audio signal. Additionally, the second disturbance signal may be modulated by a modulating signal comprising either the original or inverted orginal signal, or spoken messages indicative of an illegal copy. Additionally, or alternatively, digital information may be copy protected by briefly interrupting the writing of the information to an information carrier. The latter measure is also effective for copy protecting software.

摘要： Music is blanket transmitted (for example, via satellite downlink transmission) to each customer's user station where selected music files are recorded. Customers preselect from a list of available music in advance using an interactive screen selector, and pay only for the music that they choose to playback for their enjoyment. An antipiracy ID tag is woven into the recorded music so that any illegal copies therefrom may be traced to the purchase transaction. Music is transmitted on a fixed schedule or through anactive scheduling process that monitors music requests from all or a subset of satellite receivers and adjust scheduling accordingto demand for various CD's. Receivers store selections that are likely to be preferred by a specific customer. In those instances where weather conditions, motion of atmospheric layers or dish obstructions result in data loss, the system downloads the next transmission of the requested CD and uses both transmissions to produce a good copy . In conjunction with the blanket transmission of more popular music, an automated CD manufacturing facility may be provided to manufacture CD's that are not frequently requested and distribute them by ground transportation.

摘要： A system for selecting, erasing or reproducing program recordings using marking and descriptive data which is transmitted to a client location from a remote processing location. A database of identification signals specifying the characteristics of a known programming is maintained at a remote processing location. In a first embodiment, selected identification signals are downloaded from the database to the client location and are used by a processor at the client location to identify desired programming within a locally stored collection of previously received broadcast programming signals. In a second arrangement, locally stored programming signals are processed to extract identification data which is uploaded from the client location to the remote processing location for comparison to the database, and information describing the content of the matching programs is returned to the client location for use as a program guide, facilitating the selection, permanent storage, or playback of desired program records and/or the erasure of undesired programming. To conserve local storage space, identified program records may be uploaded and stored at the remote processing location, or shared program records in a central library may be made available for remote playback after the identity of equivalent locally stored programming is confirmed.
