摘要： This invention generally relates to radio frequency circuits, more particularly to circuits such as amplifier circuits, having a high dynamic range. Embodiments of the invention are particularly suitable for use in the front end of a Broadcast Radio Receiver such as a digital audio broadcast (DAB) receiver. An rf amplifier circuit, the circuit comprising: first and second inputs; at least one output; first and second inductors each having first and second connections, said first connections of said first and second inductors being respectively coupled to said first and second inputs; first and second transistors, each having at least a control connection., an input connection and an output connection, said input connections of said first and second transistors being respectively coupled to said second connections of said first and second inductors, said control connections of said first and second transistors each having a bias, and at least one of said output connections of said first and second transistors being coupled to said at least one output; and wherein said control connections of said first transistors is capacitatively coupled to said first inductor of said second inductor and said control connection of said second transistors is capacitively coupled to said first connection of said first inductor.

摘要： A balanced differential transimpedance amplifier with a single-ended input operational over a wide variation in the dynamic range of input signals. A threshold circuit is employed to either or a combination of (1) generate a varying decision threshold to ensure a proper slicing over a wide range of input current signal levels; and (2) generate a bias current and voltage applied to an input of a transimpedance stage to cancel out a dependence of the transimpedance stage voltage input on input current signal levels.

摘要： An Extremely High Frequency (EHF) dual-mode PA with a power combiner is designed using 40-nm bulk CMOS technology. One of the unit PAs can be switched off for the low power applications. In the design, circuit level optimization and trade-off are performed to ensure the good performance in both modes. The PA achieves a PSAT of 17.4 dBm with 29.3% PAE in high power mode and a PSAT of 12.6 dBm with 19.6% PAE in low power mode. The reliability measurements are also conducted and a lifetime of 80613 hours is estimated based on a commonly used empirical model. The excellent performance (e.g., highest reported PAE) achieved in this design further confirms the scaling of CMOS technology will continue to benefit the mm-wave transceiver design.
