    • A vehicle (including a land vehicle, watercraft, aircraft, spacecraft) transmitting-receiving system equipped with an antenna configuration can be operated in such a way that high-frequency signals which are emitted from another transmitting-receiving system are reflected to the same. The invention provides means for modulating at least one reflection characteristic of the antenna configuration. The means are provided such that the reflected signals which are received by the other transmitting-receiving system permit a piece of embossed information to be recognized by the vehicle transmitting-receiving system. The invention is characterized in that the antenna configuration comprises a plurality of emitters (53) which are each coupled to a supply line, that the modulation device is coupled to the supply lines, and that means for adjusting the direction of reflection are coupled to the supply lines. The invention is advantageous in that the antenna configuration can comprise a large surface measure on the vehicle, especially on an outer surface of the same. Said surface measure is selected and suited for the particular application.

    • The invention relates to a device for changing the polarization of an incident electromagnetic wave. Existing devices to change the polarization of an incident electromagnetic wave preserve signal decoupling, i.e. the relation between useful polarization and cross-polarization of the incoming signal. Furthermore, said devices are far too big for many applications. The aim of the inventive device is to improve signal decoupling. During transmission of an electromagnetic wave through the transmission polarizer, the cross-coupled fraction of an incoming signal is greatly reflected thus leading to improved decoupling of the transmitted signal. Furthermore, the transmission polarizer can be manufactured in the form of a single planar printed board. The transmission polarizer is particularly useful to change the polarization of an incident electromagnetic wave, i.e. from linear to circular polarization or vice versa, and to rotate the polarization of an incident electromagnetic wave around a fixed angle.

    • An antenna assembly is provided that may include an antenna element having first and second opposed sides. The antenna element may be configured to transmit or receive signals of a desired wavelength. The antenna assembly may also include a first conductive surface disposed proximate the first side of the antenna element and lying in a plane substantially perpendicular to the antenna element, and a second conductive surface disposed proximate the second side of the antenna element and lying in a plane substantially perpendicular to the first antenna element. Collectively the first and second conductive surfaces may be configured to excite wave propagation modes of a higher order than a fundamental propagation mode for reception or transmission of signals of the desired wavelength by the antenna element.
