The outline of the label blank is portrayed on the screen to permit entry of the required information. The operator can adjust the size of the information. Control of the pen in the X and Y axes is effected by stepping motors controlled by a microprocessor from inputted information within its memory. 摘要： A telephone system having at least one remotely located telephone terminal (30) for purchasing and printing lottery tickets as well as tickets to sporting events, airline flights, and concerts, and for buying products from a store and printing receipts therefor and printing coupons. The telephone system includes a central computer linked by telephone lines to the remotely located telephone terminals. The central computer (10) and each remotely located telephone terminal (30) can be located any place where telephone service is available; however, the remotely located telephone terminals are preferably placed in the homes or offices of subscribers to the telephone system. Each telephone terminal comprises a telephone with a TOUCH-TONE keypad (32), a data modem (34), a printer for printing ticket indicia (36), and a display (38). The display and printer are connected and responsive to the data modem. The central computer (10) comprises an interface device (40), an answering machine (50), a tone sensor (60), a main processor (70), and an instruction announcer (80). The interface device is connected to the telephone lines and is capable of establishing a communications link with the data modem of each telephone terminal. Preferably, the central computer (10) further includes a device for communicating with a financial institution (115), a ticket distributer (135), a lottery ticket distributer (185), a store (195), and optical scanners (170). In addition, the central computer preferably includes a bar-code generating device which causes a bar-code to be printed on each ticket for verification purposes, and optical scanners (170) for reading the bar-code at a location where the tickets are tendered.

摘要： An electronic gift certificate dispenser device (10) for printing and dispensing a gift certificate purchased by a credit card. A consumer approaches the device (10) and inserts a credit card into a magnetic card reader (16). The consumer chooses a retailer from a menu of participating retailers and enters the gift certificate value. The machine automatically verifies the credit card, causes the account to be debited and prints the gift certificate (200). A plurality of gift certificate dispensing devices (10.1....10.N) can be connected in a network under the control of a central processing unit (10). Information regarding gift certificate pruchases is transferred from the devices (10.1...10.N) to the central processing unit (60) to be collated and billed to credit card accounts. 摘要： In a betting shop terminal (60), a betting slip (80, Figure 8) is inserted into a slot (51), and pressed against a glass plate (55) by means of a hinged plate (53). A CCD camera (54) generates an electrical image of the betting slip, and stores it in a memory. A thermal printer (52) generates a hard copy of the image of the betting slip, from the stored electrical image signal, together with additional information, to form a receipt for the customer. The additional information comprises a unique serial number, the amount of the stake, and optionally the time of the bet. This information is stored also in the memory, together with the electrical image. The bet can be fully entered at a later time, subsequent to the transaction, by a settler, using the terminal (60) or an alternative terminal. Winning bets are automatically calculated from the entered information and race information received from a remote station. A plurality of terminals such as (60) intercommunicate to process shared data. A remote station can receive data relating to bets taken, etc., from the terminal (60) over a communication link.
