摘要： A solution for evaluating a medium using electrical signals is described. A plurality of electrical signals having different frequencies are transmitted through the medium and signal data corresponding to the electrical signals after having traveled through the medium is acquired. A complex impedance and a complex permittivity and/or complex conductivity can be calculated for the medium. A set of characteristics of the medium can be computed using mixing models and/or known information of the medium. A level of one or more attributes of the medium can be determined from the characteristics using nonparametric Bayesian inference. One particular application is directed to determining a nitrate level of soil.

The method includes seeding a plurality of biological cells onto an array of electrodes of an electrical cell- substrate impedance sensor (ECIS) by dropping a cell suspension including the plurality of biological cells in a cell culture medium onto the array of electrodes, forming a plurality of cultured biological cells attached onto the array of electrodes by maintaining the ECIS in an incubator, reducing pH value of an extracellular media around the plurality of cultured biological cells to a pH value between 6.2 and 6.7 by dropping an acidic solution onto the array of electrodes, activating an intracellular phenomenon due to reducing pH value of the extracellular media around the plurality of cultured biological cells, monitoring an electrical signal of the plurality of cultured biological cells for a pre-determined period of time, and determining metastasis state of the plurality of biological cells based on the monitored electrical signals.

摘要： An embodiment in accordance with the present invention is directed to a non-optical, label-free microfluidic biosensor utilizing an electrical liquid interface between two co-flowing liquids - one with a higher conductivity and one with a higher dielectric constant. The analyte-of-interest is in one solution while the receptor is in the adjacent stream. The electric interface acts as a substrate, when an alternating current electric field is applied perpendicularly across the interface, liquid displacement occurs which is frequency dependent. When a reaction occurs at the interface, it alters the electrical properties of the electrical interface, altering the frequency dependent liquid motion, which is then monitored by impedance spectroscopy downstream.
