    • The present invention relates to a cartridge (20) for an aerosol- generating system, the cartridge (20) comprises a liquid storage portion (22) for holding a liquid aerosol-forming substrate, wherein the liquid storage portion (22) includes one or more flexible walls and is configured to change at least one of the shape and the size of the liquid storage portion (22) upon a change of the volume of the liquid aerosol-forming substrate held in the liquid storage portion (22). The cartridge (20) further comprises a sensor (34, 36) for measuring data of a physical property, wherein the measured data relates to at least one of a corresponding shape and a corresponding size of the liquid storage portion (22) so that the volume of the liquid aerosol-forming substrate held in the liquid storage portion (22) is determinable from the measured data. The cartridge (20) further comprises a vaporiser (30). The present invention further relates to an aerosol-generating system that comprises the cartridge (20). The present invention further relates to a method for measuring data from which the volume of a liquid aerosol-forming substrate held in a liquid storage portion (22) is determinable.
