摘要： A firearm comprises an upper receiver. The upper receiver defines a passage adapted to receive a reciprocating bolt. The passage defines a primary axis. The firearm comprises a lower receiver removably connected to the upper receiver. The lower receiver includes a trigger mechanism. The firearm comprises a hammer pivotally connected to the upper receiver and movable between a retracted position and a forward position. The firearm comprises a hammer spring operably interconnecting the lower receiver and the hammer and adapted to bias the hammer toward the forward position. The upper receiver has a first elongated mating facility parallel to the primary axis. The lower receiver has a second elongated mating facility parallel to the primary axis and adapted to mate with the first elongated mating facility to prevent relative displacement and motion between the upper receiver and the lower receiver except in a direction parallel to the primary axis.

A rifle/bayonet unit is also provided which comprises: a rifle having a horizontal axis and having a top edge and a bottom edge along the horizontal axis; and a bayonet affixed to the rifle, the bayonet in accordance with the subject invention; wherein when the bayonet is affixed to the rifle a rifle/bayonet unit is formed having a bottom side, the bottom edge of the rifle and the bottom edge of the blade forming the bottom side of the unit.

摘要： A bayonet (10) which is adapted to be secured to the end of the military weapon with a conventional bayonet clip to provide a fully functional traditional bayonet. Additionally the bayonet includes a blade (11) which is effective as a saw, a prying tool, a cable or wire cutter when used with its scabbard and as a container opener. When used as a prying tool the danger of breakage of the blade is greatly reduced not only because of the blade thickness and lack of any notches in the tip region but by reason of the fact that the handle (13) and tang extension (24) cooperate with the blade to provide energy absorption on twisting and deflection at two levels prior to the blade endangering flexing. Altogether, the bayonet and scabbard provides an effective life saving weapon and tool.
