    • An air nozzle arrangement (400) for a fluidized bed boiler (100), comprising an air feed pipe (410) and an air nozzle (420) which limit an air feed duct (430) configured to supply air to the furnace (106) of the fluidized bed boiler (100). The air nozzle arrangement (400) comprises a surface (450) configured to guide coarse material along said surface (450). At least part of said surface (450) is thermally insulated from the air nozzle (420) and/or the air feed pipe (410). Furthermore, at least part of said surface (450) is configured to protect at least part of said air nozzle (420) and/or air feed pipe (410). Thus, the temperature of said surface (450) is configured to be high when the fluidized bed boiler (100) is in operation, whereby the solidification of molten material of the fluidized bed in the air nozzle arrangement (400) is reduced.

    • The invention pertains to a combustion grate assembly for a combustion plant, the grate assembly comprising a cascade of inclined grates, the grates being mounted with a step between the grates so that fuel is able to move from one grate in the cascade down to the next grate in the cascade under the influence of the force of gravity, and wherein each grate is connected to a vibrating system for vibrating the grates and thereby advancing the fuel from a fuel inlet zone on the first grate in the cascade to a bottom ash discharge zone on the last grate in the cascade. Each grate may be connected to an individual vibrating system for vibrating the grates independently of each other. The invention also pertains to a method of combusting biomass or other fuel.

    • In a fuel-conveying grate for incinerating plants, consisting of sections having a number of grate beams (1) extending obliquely downward in the direction of movement of the fuel, said beams having a grate top (4) stepped downwardly and being placed with lateral surfaces (3) closely adjacent to each other across the width of the grate, adjacent beams being reciprocable in the longitudinal direction, each beam being adapted for the passage therethrough of a heat-transmission medium, the main novel features are that immediately below the grate surface and in heat-transmitting contact with said surface and the lateral surfaces, longitudinally extending ducts (6, 7) for heat-transmission medium are provided. When heat-transmission medium is circulated through the ducts, temperature differences along the length of the beam are balanced, so that the difference in width between its two ends caused by temperature differences is minimized. In this manner, unwanted interspaces between adjacent beams are avoided.

    • The method proposed for feeding refuse onto an incinerator grate is characterized in that the refuse (4) is divided into loads in the feed chute (1) and the material in the individual loads fed continuously on to the incinerator grate (2). The height at which the material is fed in can be varied. The device used to carry out the method consists of feed-control rods (9, 10), a refuse-transfer device (5) and a drop gate (7). The refuse (4) is divided into loads in the feed chute (1) by the control rods (9, 10) which are disposed at two levels one above the other. From the feed chute (1), the refuse falls on to the transfer device (5) which consists of several bar-like conveyor elements (18 to 24). The individual conveyor elements (18 to 24) are hollow, thus enabling them to be cooled by a coolant if necessary. The conveyor elements in the transfer device (5) are divided into two sets, the motion of one set being phase-staggered with respect to the other, thus enabling the refuse (4) to be fed continuously on to the incinerator grate (2). The height of the drop gate (7) at the chute exit can be adjusted. If necessary, conveyor elements like those in the transfer device (5) can be fitted in the drop gate (7).

The material-loosening disks (15; 16; 17) are placed on supporting elements (19) in the form of supporting rods of essentially rectangular cross-section located below the bars of the grate (18), in such a way that they can be displaced individually in the direction of the supporting rod.

    • In a stepped combustion grate for an incineration or combustion plant, said plant comprising one or more grate sections having a plurality of grate beams (1 ) extending obliquely downwards in the direction of movement of the fuel on top of the grate, the grate beams (1 ) have a grate top (2) stepped downwardly in said direction and are placed with lateral surfaces (3) closely adjacent to each other across the width of the combustion grate. Mutually adjacent grate beams (1 ) are relatively reciprocable in the longitudinal direction and the grate beams (1 ) are adapted for the possible closed loop passage therethrough of a heat transmission medium: The confinement (4) of the heat transmission medium is provided by one or more in U- form bent plate elements (5), the sides of which are cut in steps corresponding to the stepped grate top (2) and welded to the underside of the grate top (2). In this way the number of individual components to be welded together to produce the stepped grate beam (1 ) is substantially reduced.

    • The liquid-cooled grill plate has a carrier and drive design, having a separate cooling body (K) that can be placed into said carrier and drive design and permeated by the liquid and having wear plates mounted onto said cooling body. The cooling body (K) is a welded design formed by square tube sections (20-26) and profiled sections (27), said design forming continuous elongated recesses (28-30) extending across the entire extension with the exception of the square tube sections (23-26) bridging said recesses (28-30). The carrier design is a ribbed configuration made of planar steel parts that are welded together and the drive unit (15) encloses a hydraulic cylinder-piston unit, which is accommodated on the inside of a square tube (18), said tube being guided displaceably in a tunnel-like breakthrough on said ribbed configuration. Between the wear plates and the cooling body (K) a highly heat-conductive soft silicone film (31) is clamped, which ensures good heat transfer. In this way, it is ensured that during operation the wear plates always remain in the non-critical temperature range in that they are cooled by the cooling body (K) disposed beneath, which heats up to about 50ºC. Said grill plate is much easier and inexpensive to produce because the welding work is considerably reduced and less complex as a result of the use of a separate cooling body (K).
