    • This invention relates to a tamper resistant luminaire. More specifically, the invention relates to a tamper resistant luminaire for prison environments where access to the inside of the luminaire is restricted to authorised personal only. The tammper resistant luminaire includes a light source, a mounting bracket operatively fastenable to a mounting surface and a housing for housing the liht source. The housing comprises a mounting face defining a mounting slot having a closed end and an oppoiste open end for slidably engaging the mounting bracket thereby to capture It therein and mount the housing to the mounting surface. The housing further comprises a first open end, coinciding with the open end of the slot, and an opposing second closed end defiing therein a tool receiving aperture. An end cap is removably fastenable to the first open end of the housing by a fastener thereby to seal the housing against tampering and dose the open end of the mounting slot so to retain the housing on the mounting bracket. The fastener Is located substantially at or near the first open end of the housing and Is engagable from a second opposite end of the housing by a specialized tool operatively extending through the tool receiving aperture defined In the second closed end such that in use, access into the housing other than by way of making use of the specialized tool is restricted.

    • The improved bollard luminaire (10) has an upwardly directed, elliptical main reflector (13) and a lamp (17) "nested" within the reflector (13) and positioned at or near its lower focal point (25). An upper cone-shaped reflector (19) receives light from the main reflector (13) and directs it laterally through a transparent lens element (45). The element (45) provides a 360 DEG lateral light opening (11) unobstructed by wiring, support posts or the like. Light reflected through the opening (11) is relatively sharply focused along an axis about 70 DEG from vertical axis (21). Unreflected light from the lamp (17) which "misses" both reflectors (13, 19) also provides a degree of "uplighting", often found useful for aesthetic purposes.
