    • To ensure trouble-free operation of a motor vehicle by minimizing interference radiation, system-related interference radiation induced during operation must be dissipated near the site of origin. The interference radiation which occurs in an ignition distributor (10) is absorbed by a shielding cap (26) surrounding the distributor cap (16) and transferred through a disk (24) which is partly injected into the shielding cap (26) and rigidly connected to the bushing (18), by means of the pressure forces of the head screws (14) on the housing (12) of the ignition distributor (10), and thereby reduced to earth potential. This facilitates the final assembly of the distributor cap and ensures that the shielding cap is properly earthed.

    • A high-voltage distributor for ignition systems of internal combustion engines has a cap (10) made of insulating material with a central electrode (12) and several fixed electrodes (13) set on a cylinder head or on a housing (11) of the distributor that contains a rotor (14). The rotor (14) of the distributor, which rotates in synchronicity with the camshaft of the internal combustion engine, establishes by means of an electrode (16) an electric connection between the central electrode (12) and the fixed electrodes (13). To contact the rotor (14), the central electrode (12) has a carbon brush (22) that is axially movable within a cylindrical guideway (23) of the distributor cap (10) and that bears against the rotor electrode (16) under the influence of a compression spring (23). In order to avoid damages to the carbon brush (22) when the cap (10) is laterally slid on the housing (11), the guideway (23) is enlarged like a funnel at its end from which the carbon brush extends, so that the carbon brush (22), which in the unloaded state protrudes far beyond the guideway (23), may be laterally deflected and not be affected by bending loads likely to cause its rupture.
