    • A ramped cap unit (10) is provided for installation into a swimming pool in a position covering a main pool drain equipped with an upstanding antivortex safety drain cover plate (12), wherein the ramped cap unit (10) has a smoothly contoured shape to permit a pool cleaner device (18) to travel thereover without interrupting or obstructing cleaning operation. The cap unit (10) comprises a generally inverted saucer defining a smoothly sloping and convex or ramped upwardly presented surface having a diametric size and shape to fit over the safety drain cover plate (12). An array of ribs (44) formed on the underside of the cap unit (10) engage an outer periphery of the upstanding cover plate (12) to retain the cap unit (10) in position thereon. A large plurality of vents (40, 68) are formed in the cap unit (10) at spaced-apart locations to permit downward water flow therethrough substantially without disrupting the antivortex and safety functions of the underlying drain cover plate (12).

    • An anti entrapment fail safe drain having a drain cover for partially covering an influent opening; a pressurized supply line; and a nozzle assembly in communication with the pressurized supply line and mounted within a drain sump. The nozzle assembly is for directing a pressurized liquid in a pattern over a surface of the drain cover when the drain cover and the nozzle are immersed in the liquid such that a portion of the liquid above the pattern or objects suspended in standing liquid can not be pulled directly toward the drain cover through a drain inlet opening. The drain also has an effluent opening for connecting to the drain sump arranged such that the liquid flows into a pipe in a first direction.     • A skimmer cover assembly includes a cover that is adapted to fit over the face flange of the skimmer or pool wall to prevent water from entering the skimmer assembly. The cover is secured to the skimmer by use of a draw bolt that is threaded at one end and includes a thumb screw or wing nut at a second end. The threaded end is adapted to be threaded into a support brace that is braced against an inside surface of the skimmer housing or to the skimmer housing itself. Tightening the draw bolt with the thumb screw draws the cover tightly against the face flange of the skimmer. The cover includes a gasket seal about its perimeter to form a watertight seal with the face flange of the skimmer. The draw bolt also has an o-ring that is positioned between the thumb screw and the cover to prevent water from leaking past the cover.

A support structure (84) positions the plug (72) within the drain body (64) such that at least a substantial portion of the plug sidewall (74) is spaced apart from the drain body sidewall (70) to define a fluid flow channel having a first comparatively larger cross sectional area in proximity to the drain body mouth (66) and a second comparatively smaller cross sectional area in proximity to the drain body outlet (68). The variation in the cross sectional area from the drain body mouth (66) to the drain body outlet (68) provides a lower fluid flow velocity at the mouth (66) than at the outlet (68) when fluid is transferred from the pool (10) through the floor drain assembly (12).
