    • There is provided control apparatus for a system of the type comprising a first conveying apparatus (11) for conveying bulk material, and a second conveying apparatus (13) located downstream of said first conveying apparatus (11) for continuing conveying of the bulk material; said control apparatus comprising sensing means for measuring the load applied to said second conveying apparatus (13) by the conveying of the bulk material, and control means associated with said sensing apparatus and adapted for the control of the feed rate of said first conveying apparatus (11) for the maintenance of a substantially constant load on said second conveying apparatus (13). The first and second conveying apparatus (11 and 13) may suitably be a first longitudinal conveyor (11) on a mobile road surface dressing machine (23) and arranged to receive aggregate from a hopper (12) and to deliver same to a second conveyor (15) extending laterally and disposed in a spreader box (13) to deliver aggregate to the road through a delivery slot (14) extending along the bottom of the box (13).

    • A truck (10) includes a dump body (12), a truck frame (24) with a rear axle (26), a lift system (30), and a conveying system (22). The dump body (12) is defined by a unitary floor (18), a pair of sidewalls (14, 16) which extend up from opposite sides of the floor (18), and a front wall (13) and a back wall (20) located on opposite sides of the floor (18) and extending between the sidewalls (14, 16). The dump body (12) is pivotally connected to the truck frame (24) adjacent to the back wall (20). The lift system (30) is mounted to the truck frame (24) and the dump body (12) for lifting an end of the dump body (12) proximate the front wall (13) between a lowered resting position on the truck frame (24) and an upper raised position. The conveying system (22) is positioned on the floor (18) behind the rear axle (26) and extends between the pair of sidewalls (14, 16). The dump body (12) has at least one opening (68) in alignement with the conveying system (22).
