    • The invention concerns a press section in a paper machine and a method for replacement of the press fabrics in said press section. The press section comprises two separate press nips (NP1, NP2). In the press section there is a frame part (10R, 20R) of its own for each of the separate press nips (NP1, NP2). The side frames of both of the frame parts (10R, 20R) have been interconnected by means of upper horizontal beams (16k, 16, 26) in the machine direction. The upper horizontal beam at the tending side (H) is composed of two beam parts (16, 26), of which the former part is fitted above the side frames (17a, 17b) of the first nip (NP1) at the tending side (H), and the latter beam part (26) is placed above the side frames (27a, 27b) of the latter frame part (20R) at the tending side (H). The tending side (H) beam parts (16, 26) operate as a machine-direction cantilever beam so that the former beam part (16) is supported on the latter beam part (26) and, through it, on the latter frame part (20R) while the side frames (17a, 17b) of the former frame part (10R) have been opened for replacement of the fabrics (10, 11) in the first nip (NP1). The beam parts (16, 26) operate reciprocally with each other in inverse functions as a cantilever beam and as a support part when the press fabrics (20, 21) in the latter nip (NP2) are being replaced.
