    • The invention relates to a process for purifying recovery boiler electrostatic precipitator ash (via 19) from chlorides (Cl) and potassium (K), and recover useful pulping chemicals such sodium sulphate (Na 2 SO 4 ). The inventive process uses two centrifugal separation stages (2a, 2b) in series with a leaching stage (1 a and 1 b) ahead of each centrifugal stage. The chlorides and potassium is bled out (26) with the first liquid fraction (LF1 ) from the first centrifugal separation stage and the final second dry matter substance (DM2) with enriched sodium sulphate content from the second centrifugal separation stage is sent (24) to the liquor recovery cycle, mixed into black liquor before the black liquor is being sent to the recovery process for reuse of the sodium sulphate in the pulping process. With the inventive process losses of sodium sulphate could be reduced significantly compared to a one stage leach-and-centrifuge process.

    • A method for reprocessing an ozone-containing gas present in a pulp bleaching plant comprising the steps of supplying the ozone-containing gas to a scrubber and reducing the ozone concentration of the gas as the gas flows through the scrubber. The step of reducing comprises the steps of supplying an alkaline medium to the scrubber and flowing the ozone-containing gas in countercurrent relationship with the alkaline medium within the scrubber so as to provide intimate contact between the ozone-containing gas and the alkaline medium, thereby converting the ozone-containing gas into a substantially ozone-free gas. The alkaline medium may comprise one of the following: a sodium hydroxide solution; white liquor; post oxygen stage filtrate; weak black liquor; or filtrate from an Eo stage of the pulp bleaching plant. The method further comprises the step of separately discharging the ozone-containing gas and the alkaline medium from the scrubber. The ozone-containing gas may comprise an off-gas, which has been partially reacted with a pulp within a pulp bleaching stage or alternatively may comprise fresh bleaching gas, having an ozone concentration ranging from about 6 % to about 14 % by weight within a carrier gas, with the fresh bleaching gas being supplied directly from an ozone generator to the scrubber.

    • A process of improving the heat efficiency by condensation of vapour in concentrated chemical solutions, according to which vapour and a concentrated chemical solution are introduced into an absorber comprising a cooler/condenser. In accordance with the invention, the condensate formed in the condensation process is utilised to dilute the concentrated chemical solution in the absorber, and the heat of condensation and the heat of solution generated from the dilution step are recovered by heat exchange thereof with a heat-absorbing medium. A plant for performing the process is described, comprising an absorber (1) and a cooler (condenser) associated therewith, and at least one heat exchanger (3) having an inlet and an outlet for supply and withdrawal of a heat-absorbing medium. The plant has at least one inlet to the absorber (1) for supply of concentrated chemical solution, at least one inlet to the absorber (1) for the supply of vapour, and at least one outlet from the absorber for withdrawal of a diluted chemical solution obtained through condensation of vapour and the chemical solution in the absorber (1).
