    • This application provides a metallurgical extraction technique, comprising: a) re-pulping a feed filter cake to make a filter cake slurry; b) grinding the filter cake slurry; c) leaching the ground filter cake slurry in a hot alkaline cyanide solution to provide dissolved platinum group metals; d) liquid-solid separating of the dissolved platinum group metals; and e) recovering the dissolved platinum group metals by cementing the dissolved platinum group metals with a precipitating metal comprising an aluminum or a zinc; wherein the feed filter cake has the platinum group metals at a total amount from 0.1 to 1.5 wt% and a halide anion content from zero to less than 4 wt%. This application provides a process for platinum group metal recovery, comprising: converting a catalyst which was in contact with a water reactive ionic liquid catalyst into a non-water reactive filter cake and extracting the platinum group metals.

    • Process for extracting gold from rock materials that contain it, comprising the steps of: - feeding a continuous flow of previously finely divided rock material into a turbo-reactor comprising a cylindrical tubular body (1) with horizontal axis, closed at opposite ends by end plates (2,3) and having inlet openings (5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 15) for the rock material, for at least one reagent and for oxygen, at least one discharge opening (7), a bladed rotor (8) which is rotatably supported in the cylindrical tubular body (1), in which it is rotated at high speed, so as to obtain a flow of finely divided particles of the rock material, and optionally a heating jacket (4), - feeding into the turbo-reactor a continuous flow of an aqueous solution of an alkaline or alkaline-earth cyanide and a continuous flow of oxygen, centrifuging the particles of finely divided rock material and the cyanide solution against the inner wall of the cylindrical tubular body (1), forming a highly turbulent, tubular and dynamic fluid layer, and - reacting the finely divided rock material and the cyanide in the thin layer, while this advances substantially in contact with the inner wall towards the discharge opening (7) of the turbo-reactor.
