摘要： Provided is a composition which comprises two immiscible compounds and a compatibiliser, which stabilises the interface between two or more immiscible compounds. The compatibiliser improves the morphology of blends comprising the first and second compounds. The composition may be useful in the context of functional blends for optoelectronic applications, such as solar cells, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic photovoltaics (OPVs). Also provided is a process for the preparation of the composition and compounds for use therein.

摘要： A photo-tunable liquid crystal composition may include a polymer matrix and a liquid crystal mixture dispersed within the polymer matrix. The liquid crystal mixture may include at least one achiral nematic liquid crystal material,at least one photo-active chiral dopant,at least one photo-inactive chiral dopant,and at least one emissive dye. The composition may be fabricated in the form of an emulsion,a wet film,or a dry film. The dry film may be used in a photo-tunable liquid crystal film laser. The output wavelength of the photo-tunable liquid crystal film laser may be tuned by exposing the dry film to illumination having at least one wavelength at one or more transition wavelengths.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method of producing liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) based components. The method comprises the steps of (i) providing or creating micro- sized or nano-sized LCE particles, (ii) dispersing the particles in an uncured liquid polymer, (iii) aligning the nematic directors of the particles and, (iv) shaping and curing the matrix/particles mixture. The composite material formed by this method is a polymer dispersed liquid crystal elastomer (PDLCE) with custom-tailored properties which can be shaped into arbitrary forms.

The present invention provides a liquid crystal polymer composition comprising, dispersed in the polymer, a liquid crystal and anisotropic light absorbing particles, wherein the liquid crystal comprises a mixture of 35-80 parts by weight of biphenyl nitriles liquid crystal, 5-30 parts by weight of phenyl benzoates liquid crystal, 5-30 parts by weight of fluoro biphenyls liquid crystal, and 1-20 parts by weight of benzene nitriles liquid crystal. 摘要： Disclosed are polarization-independent electro-optical compositions using dichroic-dye-doped polymer stabilized optically isotropic chiral liquid crystals. The isotropic phase of such compositions can be well maintained even if the temperature is below 0 °C. The electro-optical performances of such compositions demonstrate large Kerr constants, fast response times, and large contrast ratios of the compositions. The power consumption and the cost of devices based on the compositions can be decreased substantially due to alignment-free and polarizer-free characteristics. The compositions can be used to generate low power consumption displays and other photonic devices.

摘要： An insect screen for screening a constructional opening. The insect screen is provided with a sheet of gauze material formed from yarns having at least two opposite longitudinal edges. At least two retaining sections are provided, each for retaining one of the two opposite longitudinal edges to a constructional opening. The sheet of gauze material is formed from yarns from polypropylene, in which a liquid crystalline polymer is incorporated for enhancing UV-resistance. At least a direct welded connection has been carried out between the gauze material and a similar polypropylene with liquid crystalline polymer incorporated therein. The welded connection serves for retaining each of the at least two opposite longitudinal edges to an associated one of the at least two retaining sections. The two retaining sections are part of a circumferential frame in the case of a fixed insect screen. The two retaining sections can also be formed by the side guides, for receiving and guiding opposite longitudinal edges, in the case of a roll-up insect screen.
