    • A heat insulating container (A) suitable to hold instant food cooked in boiled water and beverage and food desirable to be drunk and eaten respectively while they are hot. The container (A) comprises a molded body of synthetic resin foam, in which an annular flange (4) is joined to an open edge part (11) of a bottomed cylindrical portion (1) with a cross-sectionally bent curl portion (5) joined to the flange (4). A trunk part (3) of the bottomed cylindrical portion (1), annular flange (4) and curl portion (5) have an equal thickness, which is in the range of not more than 1.5 mm to be specific. The manufacturing method comprises the step of forming a curl portion (5) by feeding a skirt portion (53) of an intermediate molded body (7) of synthetic resin foam sequentially while rolling the skirt portion in a groove (91) of a gradually decreasing width (W) in a mold (9) from the side of a larger width (W) thereof toward the side of a smaller width (W) thereof and heating the same skirt portion, so as to mold a cross-sectionally bent curl portion (5).

The container (A) comprises a molded body of synthetic resin foam, in which an annular flange (4) is joined to an open edge part (11) of a bottomed cylindrical portion (1) with a cross-sectionally bent curl portion (5) the thickness of which is smaller than that of the bottomed cylindrical portion (1) joined to the flange (4). The thickness of the curl portion (5) is preferably set to not more than 1.5 mm. The manufacturing method comprises the steps of forming an intermediate molded body (7) of synthetic resin foam so that the thickness of a skirt portion (53) thereof is smaller than that of a trunk part (3) of the bottomed cylindrical portion (1), and feeding the skirt portion (53) sequentially while rolling the skirt portion in a groove (91) of a gradually decreasing width (W) in a mold (9) from the side of a larger width (W) thereof toward the side of a smaller width (W) thereof and heating the same skirt portion, so as to mold a cross-sectionally bent curl portion (5).

    • Molded plastic plates (50, 50a, 50b) having a rolled edge rim (56, 56a, 56b) and a method of rolling the edges (60) of the molded plastic plates (50, 50a, 50b). The plastic plates (50, 50a, 50b) are pre-molded with lugs (58) that project outwardly from the sides (54) of the plates (50, 50a, 50b). The lugs (58) of one plate (50, 50a, 50b) contact the rim (56) of the next successive plate (50, 50a, 50b) in a stack of plates (50, 50a, 50b) to create a gap (68) between the plates (50, 50a, 50b) stacked one on top of another. The gap (68) allows each individual plate (50, 50a, 50b) to be picked up by the threads on a plurality of threaded rollers which press on the rim (56) of the plate (50, 50a, 50b) to form the rolled edge (60).
