    • Systems and methods for painting, which might be used to paint the soil in a golf hole are provided. A spraying device can comprise a first masking apparatus, a second masking apparatus coupled to the first and a paint dispersing device, between the first and second masking apparatus. The paint may disperse from a single nozzle that can include multiple individual exit points for the spray. In another embodiment, the single nozzle includes an exit point and a flat or curved plate to direct the spray. Alternatively, the paint dispersing apparatus may comprise multiple nozzles. The nozzles may be provided with paint using tubes connecting from a paint source, such as an aerosol paint can, to each nozzle. The first masking apparatus can be a golf cup mask and the second masking apparatus can be a putting green mask.

    • An in situ apparatus, system, and method for cladding or repairing cladding in installed pipelines are presented. The apparatus can include a coating collar, a material reservoir, a cladding head, an adjustable cladding chamber, and a chamber controller. The coating collar can include an external surface, a first circumferential wall, and a second circumferential wall and forms the adjustable cladding chamber along with interior wall of the pipe. The coating collar can have an aperture to include and allow deployment of the cladding head through it. The cladding head can be operatively coupled with the cladding material reservoir to allow efficient deployment of the cladding material on the pipe surface. The chamber controller can be coupled with the adjustable cladding chamber to control dimensions of the chamber thus restricting and controlling the environment and enabling efficient functioning of the cladding head and limiting grain growth in applied nanoclad materials.

    • A thermal metal spraying apparatus for use with a thermal metal spraying torch for applying a metal coating to a workpiece through a torch spraying nozzle having a spraying orifice. The thermal metal spraying apparatus provides a substantially tubular shroud having a first end and a second end adaptable to concentrically receive the torch spraying nozzle. The shroud has an opening at the second end, wherein the opening is selectably alignable with the spraying orifice. A drive mechanism is connected to the shroud and is operable to translate the shroud between a first position, wherein the opening at the second end is not aligned with the spraying orifice, thereby preventing the spraying of the metal coating on the workpiece, and a second position, wherein the opening at the second end is aligned with the spraying orifice permitting the spraying of the metal coating toward the workpiece. A deflection insert may be connected to the second end of the shroud adjacent the opening for deflecting the metal coating away from the workpiece when the shroud is in the first position. The deflection insert may be positioned at an acute angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the shroud.

    • The method of forming a seamed metal tube (20c) having a metal coating (56) of this invention includes galvanizing the strip (20) prior to welding. The strip (20) is then formed into an open seam tube (20b) and welded in an inert atmosphere with the seam (71) located in the lower portion of the tube. Finally, the metal coating (56) is caused to flow downwardly over the seam (71), coating the seam (71) by several means. In one embodiment, the strip (20) is preformed into an arcuate shape (20a) and galvanized, wherein the zinc coating (56) increases in thickness toward the lateral strip edges (48), such that the coating (56) will flow over the seam (71) following welding. The tube (20c) may also be reheated following welding, preferably in an enclosure (78) containing an inert atmosphere which includes the weld apparatus (62). In another embodiment, an inert gas is directed over the inner and outer surfaces of the tube (20c), adjacent the seam (71), driving the molten metal downwardly over the seam (71) to coat the seam (71). In another embodiment, the lateral edges (48) of the strip (20) are formed with indentions or grooves (188) directed toward the lateral edges (48) which direct the molten metal downwardly over the seam (71).
