摘要： A method, apparatus and a system for thermally-assisted pulsed electromagnetic field stimulation for treatment of osteoarthritis are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system comprises a multi-coil applicator adapted for positioning near or around of the treated joint, a pulse generator functionally coupled to the applicator, a power supply, and a feedback loop for stabilizing the temperature of the joint. The feedback loop includes a heating element, a temperature sensor and an electronic controller for maintaining the temperature of the joint in the range of 38 to 42 degree C. At elevated temperatures the healing effect of PEMF stimulation on the cartilage is maximized and overall efficiency of the treatment is improved. To produce a high electric field, the coils of the applicator are made with a low number of turns, for example less than 5 turns, and are spatially arranged to cover the whole joint without "dead" zones.

摘要： Cold therapy is an established practice used in the medical profession to treat certain limb injuries, such as sprained or strained arm or leg muscles or injuries to joints. Generally, these types of injuries should be chilled to slow blood flow, which reduces swelling, pain, and further damage. Cold therapy is also an established practice used to treat migraine and other types of headaches. A typical course of cold therapy treatment is to apply ice for a specified period to the injured region of a limb, the neck, face, or head. Alternatively, a pack or bag containing a chemical agent that reacts (endothermically) to produce cold may be applied to the injured region, the neck, face, or head. The cold pack (11) has a first compartment (21'), a second compartment (21' ', 21' ' '), and a connection (23', 23'') between the first and second compartment, the connection adapted to pass the endothermic solution between the first hand second compartment.

摘要： A system and method for portably delivering a therapeutic dose of heat to the skin to relieve pain, reduce accommodation of thermal nerve receptors, promote healing, and deliver transcutaneous medications. The heating device is user programmable or pre-programmed to deliver according to a variety of cycles, patterns and algorithms. The cycles, patterns, and algorithms of the heat are programmable parameters, are under the user's control, and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the device. The heating algorithms are designed to interact with an individual user's thermal nerve receptors and other tissue characteristics and to reduce the tendency of the receptors to accommodate to the external stimuli with back pain, muscular pain, dysmenorrhea, headaches, fibromyalgia, post-herpetic neuralgia, nerve injuries and neuropathies, and sprains and strain. The device can also be used in conjunction with existing medical devices such as Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulators (TENS) to increase the effectiveness of TENS devices.

摘要： The present disclosure describes a system for providing targeted, temperature regulated therapy to a user. The system includes a convective unit and a forced air controller, with the convective unit including a sleeve for securing to a desired portion of the user's anatomy. The convective unit is fluidly coupled to the forced air controller, which is operable to transport a thermally conditioned air stream to an inflatable chamber in the sleeve. The convective unit receives the air stream, inflates, distributes the typically warmed, pressurized air within the inflatable chamber, and emits the air through one or more air permeable surfaces for convective transfer of heat to the body of the wearer enveloped by the sleeve.

Generally, the methods and devices can activate BAT to increase thermogenesis, e.g., increase heat production in the patient, which over time can lead to weight loss and/or improved metabolic function. An impermeable enclosure contains the spherical materials and the medium to form the therapeutic device. The therapeutic device also has a weight which provides pressure to, and desired contact with, the injured area. Certain embodiments further include an accessory for holding the device in contact or otherwise close proximity to a body region being treated.
