摘要： Provided are improved hip prosthetic devices that reduce the risk of hip dislocation upon performing artificial hip replacement. The improved hip prosthetic devices comprise a flexible bumper configured to extend from the acetabular component and prevent contact between the femoral neck and the acetabular component. The bumper may be an acetabular capsule inserted in collaboration with a standard hip prosthetic device, and attached to a standard acetabular liner. The capsule has a bumper region that cushions contact between the femoral neck and the acetabular component, thereby preventing impingement and dislocation, both common in patients in which known hip prosthetic devices are used. Alternatively, an improved acetabular liner comprises an integral bumper which prevents impingement of the femoral neck and acetabular components, thereby reducing dislocation risk and securing the femoral head within the acetabular liner.

摘要： A patient-specific implant, based on a bottom-up approach, to treat patients with bone defects is described. The defect bone is reconstructed. In the configuration step, parameters that influence fixation of the implant are calculated. Specifications of the surgeon may be incorporated to steer the implant configurations. Different configuration proposals are calculated with different values for a first number of parameters. Via the evaluation step, different implant geometries are numerically simulated to determine the biomechanical impact and strength of the implant. A suitable implant design is chosen if it meets certain quality criteria. If the implant design fails to meet the quality criteria, the number of parameters calculated for creating different configuration proposals is iteratively increased in an optimization process, and evaluation is repeated to find a suitable implant design. This optimization process continues until an implant configuration is found that complies with implant quality criterions and the surgeon's specifications.

摘要： A method of determining disc space geometry with the use of an expandable trial having endplate-mapping capabilities. An expandable trial is inserted into the disc space and its height is adjusted to obtain the desired decompression and spinal alignment (which is typically confirmed with the use of CT or Fluoroscopic imaging). The endplate dome/geometry dome is then determined by one of the following three methods: a) direct imaging through the trial, b) balloon moldings filled with flowable in-situ fluid (for example, silicon, polyurethane, or PMMA) from superior/inferior endplates or c) light-based imaging through superior & inferior balloons.
