    • A dock leveler (12) includes a vehicle-engaging pivotal lip (26) extending from the front end (22) of a pivotal deck (16), wherein the lip has one or more unique features that provide a smooth transition for forklifts traveling between the lip and a trailer bed (14) upon which the lip is resting. The smooth transition minimizes jolting and vibration of the forklift and its driver as the forklift wheels pass over the leading edge of the lip.     • A retractable barrier includes a rollup or otherwise retractable panel that can extend between two spaced apart support members. When not in use, the panel can retract onto one of the support members to permit passage. The barrier provides substantial impact resistance by having the reactive force of the impact transfer directly between the barrier's retractable panel and its support members without having to rely on the strength of the panel's take-up roller or the strength of the roller's anti-rotation mechanism. This can be accomplished by having a slot-engaging stop member mounted directly to the panel itself. The stop member is preferably a pipe, rod, bar or some other vertically elongate member that can broadly distribute an impact reactive force over the height of the panel. In some embodiments, the barrier can be set for various doorway widths by simply repositioning the stop member's location on the retractable panel.

    • A sectional door (10) includes a series of track-guided pivotal door panels (12,14,16,18), wherein at least one of the door panels (12) comprises several interlocked panel members (30,32,34). The panel members (30,32,34) are of various widths so they can be assembled in different combinations to create a door panel (12) of a desired total width. The panel members (30,32,34) can be extrusions that are readily cut to length to match doorways of various widths. The ability to readily provide a panel in various widths and lengths makes such a door panel (12) particularly useful as a replacement panel whose size needs to match that of existing door panels. In some cases, one or more panel members (30,32,34) can be transparent to create a door panel with an integral window (86,88).

    • An example dock leveler disclosed herein includes a deck and a lip structure translatable relative to the deck. A frame is disposed within a pit underneath the deck and includes a deck-supporting surface. A deck-supporting foot extends from the lip structure to engage the deck-supporting surface. A weather shield has a lower end and an upper end, the lower end of the weather shield coupled to at least one of the frame and a wall of the pit, the upper end of the weather shield is carried by the lip structure, the lower end of the weather shield is positioned forward of the deck-supporting foot when the deck is in a cross-traffic position while the lip structure is in a retracted position, and the deck-supporting foot is positioned forward of the lower end of the weather shield when the lip structure is in an extended position.
