    • The rail-vehicle transverse springing described includes spring elements (9, 10) for springing the vehicle body (1), relative to the chassis (2) on which it is mounted, against lateral forces, hydraulic-fluid work elements (5, 6) designed to apply force between the body and the chassis, the work elements being connected to two independent branches (A, B) of the system and their pressures being controlled by means of a controller (11) and a pressure generator (12), plus a motion pickup (11) designed to generate a signal (y/U), fed to the controller, which gives the departure of the vehicle body from its central position with respect to the chassis. The invention calls for each of the independent system branches (A and B) to be linked hydraulically to at least one accumulator element (9 and 10, respectively) with a spring action and for the work elements (5 and 6, respectively) to be operated as drives, a valve-control block (17) being activated by the controller (12) to connect selectively one of the two system branches to a high-pressure pump in order to control the banking of the vehicle body, by changing the pressure in the drive elements, to bring the vehicle body into its ideal banking position under the springing action of the accumulator elements. Also described is a method for the active control of the orientation of the rail-vehicle body relative to the chassis by means of the transverse springing as a function of running conditions or information concerning the track.
