    • An all-optical device for data processing is presented. The device comprises (a) at least one optical waveguide unit made of linear media and configured to provide multiple total internal reflections of light passing therethrough, the waveguide unit comprising a waveguide portion for interaction between reflected light components of input light; (b) an input aperture arrangement formed by at least one input aperture at an input facet of the waveguide portion; and (c) an output aperture arrangement formed by at least one output aperture at an output facet of the waveguide portion. The geometry of the input aperture arrangement and the waveguide portion is selected so as to determine an interference pattern resulting from a diffraction-based interaction between light components of a predetermined wavelength while the light components propagate through the waveguide portion, a location of the at least one output aperture relative to features of the interference pattern being selected to provide at the output an appropriate modulation of at least one parameter of the input light.

    • An imaging system and method are presented. The system comprises an imaging lens unit, an imaging detector, and a birefringent element located between the imaging lens unit and the imaging detector. The system is thus configure and operable to provide in-focus imaging of objects located at both near-field and far-field ranges. Also provided is an optical device configured to be mounted on an imaging lens, being one of the following: a lens of an individual's glasses, on a contact lens, and an eye internal lens. The optical device is configured to be located between the imaging lens and the retina and comprises a birefringent element, to thereby provide in-focus imaging onto the retina of the objects located at both near-field and far-field ranges therefrom.

    • The present invention relates to a system, apparatus and method of performing 3-D (three-dimensional) object profile inter-planar estimation and/or range inter-planar estimation of one or more objects within a scene, said method comprising: (a) providing a predefined finite set of distinct types of features, giving rise to feature types, each feature type being distinguishable according to a unique bi-dimensional formation; (b) providing a coded light pattern comprising multiple appearances of said feature types; (c) projecting said coded light pattern, having axially varying intensity, on one or more objects within a scene, said scene having at least two planes, giving rise to a first plane and to a second plane; (d) capturing a 2-D (two-dimensional) image of said objects having said projected coded light pattern projected thereupon, thereby giving rise to a captured 2-D image, said captured 2-D image comprising reflected said feature types; (e) determining intensity values of the 2-D captured image, giving rise to the determined intensity values; and (f) performing 3-D object profile inter-planar estimation and/or range inter-planar estimation of said one or more objects within said scene based on said determined intensity values.
