    • An actuator is used to dispense a medicament from a container having at least a first and second portion. The actuator includes a holder, a trigger member and a push member. The holder is adapted to engage at least the first portion of the container. The trigger member is pivotally connected to the holder at a pivot axis, wherein the trigger member is pivotable about the pivot axis in a first direction toward the grippable portion and a second direction opposite the first direction. The push member is connected to the trigger member, wherein the push member is pivotable about the pivot axis in the first direction as the trigger member is pivoted in the first direction and wherein the push member is pivotable about the pivot axis in the second direction as the trigger member is pivoted in the second direction. The push member is adapted to move at least the second portion of the container relative to the holder as the push member is pivoted in the first direction. In one preferred embodiment, the trigger member follows a path, and a stop member engages one of the container and push member and immobilizes the push member as the trigger is moved along a predetermined portion of the path. In one preferred embodiment, a trip member engages the stop member and disengages it from one of the container and the push member, thereby allowing the push member to move the second portion of the container. In one preferred embodiment, the actuator includes an indicator mechanism for indicating the number of doses remaining in or dispensed from the container. A method of dispensing medicament from the container, and a method of assembling the actuator also are provided. A nasal applicator is also provided, and includes a diffuser having a passageway comprising a tapered portion.

    • An indicating device suitable for indicating the number of dosages of a substance that have been dispensed from or remain in a container includes at least one first indicator member incrementally moveable to a plurality of positions and a second indicator member moveable in response to a predetermined number of movements of the at least one first indicator member. The at least one first indicator member includes primary dosage indicia adapted to indicate the number of dosages of substance that have been dispensed from or remain in the container. The second indicator member includes secondary dosage indicia adapted to indicate that less than a minimum predetermined number of dosages of substance remain in the container. In one preferred embodiment, the primary dosage indicia are configured as numerical indicia and the secondary dosage indicia are configured as color indicia. In another aspect, a device for dispensing dosages of a substance includes a dispenser housing and a container disposed in the dispenser housing. The indicating device is located adjacent to and is actuated by one or the other of the top or bottom of the container. A method for indicating the number of metered dosages of medicaments dispensed from or remaining in the container is also provided.
