摘要： This invention is directed to lubricating oil compositions which are especially adapted for use in mechanical systems where gears are subjected to great stress and extremely high pressures such as those found in automotive rear axles or off highway transmissions and gear boxes. More particularly, the present invention relates to lubricants and functional fluids which are useful particularly in environments characterized by high pressure and rubbing surfaces and comprises a lubricating base oil having dissolved therein a combination of: (A) at least one sulfur compound characterized by structural formula (I), wherein R , R , R and R are each independently H or hydrocarbyl groups; R and/or R may be G or G ; R and R and/or R and R together may be alkylene groups containing about 4 to about 7 carbon atoms; G and G are each independently C(X)R, COOR, C=N, R C=NR , CON(R)2 or NO2, and G also may be CH2OH, wherein X is O or S, R and each R are independently H or a hydrocarbyl group, R is H or a hydrocarbyl group; when both G and G are R C=NR , the two R groups together may be a hydrocarbylene group linking the two nitrogen atoms; when G is CH2OH and G is COOR, a lactone may be formed by intramolecular condensation of G and G ; and x is an integer from 1 to about 8; (B) at least one phosphite ester characterized by formula (II), wherein R and R are hydrocarbyl based groups; and (C) at least one metal overbased composition.

The composition comprises (A) a base fluid; and (B) a sulfur and phosphorus containing viscosity modifying composition selected from the group consisting of a low molecular weight viscosity modifying composition and a non-polymeric viscosity modifying composition. The composition is particularly useful as a performance chemical and rheology control agent in lubricating fluids such as hydraulic fluids, transmission fluids and crankcase fluids.

摘要： Lubricating and functional fluid compositions are described which comprise at least one oil of lubricating viscosity and an extreme-pressure and friction-modifying amount of (A) at least one phosphite ester characterized by the formula (I) wherein R1 is a straight-chain hydrocarbyl group and R2 is a branched-chain hydrocarbyl group. The invention also relates to compositions which comprise the combination of such phosphite esters as represented by Formula I and various sulfur-containing compositions. The compositions comprising said combinations also are useful in lubricating and functional fluid compositions including lubricating oils and greases. Aqueous systems containing the phosphite esters represented by Formula I as well as combinations of phosphite esters with sulfur-containing compositions also are described.

摘要： The disclosed technology relates to a lubricating oil composition comprising at least one base oil and at least one overbased low molecular weight zinc dialkyldithiophosphate derived from one or more dithiophosphoric acids represented by the formula (I) and/or a metal salt thereof, wherein in formula (I), R 1 and R 2 are independently hydrocarbyl groups, the average total number of carbon atoms in R 1 and R 2 in formula (I) being in the range from 4 to 10, the metal ratio of the overbased low molecular weight zinc dialkyldithiophosphate being at least about 1.15:1, the lubricating oil composition being characterized by a phosphorus concentration of up to about 0.12% by weight. The disclosed technology also relates to a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine and improving the efficiency of the emissions control system of the engine.

摘要： Borated amine salts of dihydrocarbyl monothiophosphoric acids, and lubricating and functional fluid compositions containing said borated amine salts. The lubricating and functional fluid compositions have improved extreme pressure properties and high temperature stability. The borated amine salts of the invention may be characterized by formulae (I), (II), (III) or mixtures thereof, wherein R and R are each independently hydrocarbyl groups containing from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms. In one preferred embodiment, the amine salts are derived from hydroxyhydrocarbyl amines. The lubricating and functional fluid compositions may contain, in addition to the borated amine salt, at least one nitrogen-containing composition prepared by the reaction of a hydrocarbon-substituted succinic acid-producing compound with at least about one-half equivalent, per equivalent of acid-producing compound, of an amine containing at least one hydrogen attached to a nitrogen atom. The lubricating compositions of the present invention are particularly useful as lubricating oils, functional fluids and greases.
