    • A corporate/organization communications system includes a number of mobile telephones (MT1...MTm) and a local network which has a private automatic branch exchange PABX (1) with a number of extensions (2). Access units (B1...Bn; CT1...CTn) are connected to the extensions. In accordance with the invention service node (3), referred to as a mobility server, is connected to the PABX as an adjunct thereto and manages all calls to and from the mobile telephones. The mobile telephones (MT1...MTm) are adapted to make outgoing calls to the PABX only. The mobility server checks the services requested in a call from a mobile telephone. If the requested services match a service profile associated with said mobile telephone the mobility server initiates the set up of the requested outgoing call. If they do not match, the outgoing call is rejected. In this manner the company/organization will control all outgoing calls from its mobile telephones. Calls directed to the mobile telephones are managed by a call park, call alert and call back sequence.

    • A Software Fault Management (SFM) system (10) for managing software faults in a managed mobile telecommunications network. The SFM system (10) includes an Intelligent Management Information Base (I-MIB) (36) comprising a Management Information Base (MIB) (37) and a Knowledge Base (KB) (38) having a functional model (39) of the managed network and a trouble report/known faults (TR/KF) case base (41). The I-MIB and the intelligent multi-agent portion are compliant with Telecommunications Management Network (TMN) principles and framework. Fault management is both proactive and reactive. The SFM system (10) is made independent of technology-specific implementations by representing the underlying switch design knowledge in a modular and changeable form which is then interpreted by the intelligent multi-agent portion. A clear separation is maintained between the generic procedural inference mechanisms and agents, and the specific and explicit models of the different network elements of a mobile telecommunications network.

    • The present invention discloses a method of configuring subnodes, or configuring a system of subnodes, in an optical network ring against both node and fiber failure by means of OADM, Optical Add Drop Multiplexer. The network comprises a working ring and a stand-by ring and each subnode includes selective optical filter means, optical 2x2 switch means and optical amplifier means. The method and the system is further comprising the steps of monitoring the inputs and outputs of each subnode at the working and stand-by rings by means of monitor device means, which are generating alarm signals upon detection of signal loss at a subnode. As a response to the alarm signal the state of the subnode, which causes the alarm signal, is transferred from a first state into one of a number of possible conditions as a function of the generated alarm signal, and thereby selecting a switch configuration for the subnode according to the new state to clear the error detected.
