    • The invention proposes to introduce a method for a Radio Access Network for providing "Local Switching" between call legs of a call. Within said method the Radio Access Network receives a call identifier for a leg of a call from a Core Network to be handled by the Radio Access Network. The Radio Access Network stores said received call identifier, compares said received call identifier with stored call identifiers for call legs of calls via said Radio Access Network. If said received call identifier matches a stored call identifier the Radio Access Networks establish local switching of call legs identified by the matching call identifier. In an alternative embodiment, the invention proposes to introduce a method for a Core Network for providing local switching for call legs of a call. Within said method the Core Network receives or generates a call identifier for a leg of a call. The Core Network stores said received call identifier and identifies a respective Radio Access Network for said leg of said call. Thereafter, the Core Network compares said call received identifier with stored call identifiers for call legs of calls via said identified Radio Access Network. If said received call identifier matches a stored call identifier enforce local switching of call legs identified by the matching call identifier. The invention furthermore provides for respective Nodes of the respective Networks employing the invention.

    • The invention relates to a method for setting up a connection between an originating mobile entity (10) and a terminating mobile entity (20) connecting to the same radio access network (100) of a mobile communications network, the radio access network accessing a core network through a serving access gateway (310, 330) serving one of the two mobile entities (10, 20) the method performed by the serving access gateway comprising the steps of receiving a connection setup message for establishing the connection between the originating and the terminating mobile entity, wherein the connection setup message transmitted along a signalling path in the core network comprises an information element storing media plane access needs of at least one network node in the signalling path of the core network, wherein the media plane access needs indicate the needs of a network node in the signal path of the core network to access a media plane of the connection to be set up. Additionally it is checked whether any of the network nodes in the signalling path of the core network needs access to the media plane of said connection to be set up, wherein, if none of the network nodes needs access to the media plane and if the serving access gateway needs access to the media plane at least the following steps are carried out: a media gateway (210, 230) that is handling a media stream of the serving access gateway (310, 330) is instructed to provide an uplink endpoint for the connection to the originating mobile entity and an uplink endpoint for the connection to the terminating mobile entity for the connection to be set up, and the radio access network (100) is informed to transmit the media stream of the originating and the terminating mobile entity (10, 20) to the media gateway (210, 230) of the serving access gateway (310, 330) needing access to the media plane.

    • There is provided an information acquisition method to be executed by a mobile station, connected to a first radio access network of a first radio access technology, to perform acquisition of an information set related to a second radio access network of a second, different radio access technology for enabling mobility to the second radio access network. Basically, the method comprises receiving (S1) message instances, wherein a set of the message instances includes the information set for enabling mobility to the second radio access network. The method further comprises investigating (S2) the message instances to find counter information in a message instance indicating the number of message instances the mobile station must acquire to assemble the information set. The method also comprises identifying (S3), in relation to the message instance in which the counter information is found, the set of message instances that includes the information set based on the counter information. The method then comprises collecting (S4) the information set from the identified set of message instances.
